COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, special
Our Imperial Oatmeal Stout has been brewed using a single temperature infusion mash. A large proportion of Scottish Oatmeal was combined with a profusion of English coloured malts to give an incredibly rich and decadent brew. To bring harmony to this powerful malt grist, English Fuggle hops were used exclusively for bittering and adding aromas of stone fruit. After primary fermentation and a period of conditioning, the beer was aged in famous Kentucky Bourbon barrels for six months, lending their unique influence to the final flavour. Conditioning was then finished in the bottle using Champagne yeast. Malts : Maris Otter, Flaked Oats, Crystal, Dark Crystal, Chocolate and Roast Barley Hops : Fuggles

Bottle shared at Bruce’s in London - huge thanks to Jack for this one. Pours black with a fairly thick, creamy tan head. Pretty standard dark malt nose, toast, faint cocoa. Medium sweet flavor, good alcohol, some bitter earth, baking cocoa, rich bread. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Oily chocolatey finish, lots of earthy bitterness, baking cocoa, earth. Good.

25.5.2014. Aroma is mostly bourbon sweetness, also vanilla, coffee. Palate is very full bodied with coffee, chocolate and slightly roasted malts. Also warmth of alcohol. Oily and smooth. Awesome bourbon aged IS. Ofc should be shared but with time also goes alone.

500ml bottle, 2012 vintage, 11%. Black, small diminishing brown head. Aroma is custard cream biscuits, vanilla, bourbon booziness, oak. Body is medium, slightly foamy, low carbonation. Taste is soft rye bread malt, peppery spice, light wood. Finishes dry and tannic, like a red wine. A very solid imperial stout.

Dark brown colour with cinnamon coloured head and nice lacing leaves to the glass. Aroma has lots of stuff. There is espresso coffee, vanilla, caramel, syrup, chocolate, licorice, milk coffee / cream. Wow at this point! Taste is quite similar, there is vanilla, dark chocolate, same coffee with cream and lots of syrup sweetness. Alcohol warms you up but doesn’t taste. Full and rich texture with slightly bubbly carbonation. This Hall series really does a magnificent job with each brew!

(Rating #5907)

Pours reddish black with little or no head. Nose has raisin plum and liquorice. Palate is average, but a very good imperial stout alltogether.

My Bottom Line:
Oatmeal cookies, roasted cereals and vanilla flavors coalesce in this rich, warming Imperial Stout.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the brown-edged black.
-The finish is ably balanced out by resinous hop bitterness.
-There is no domination by one particular flavor.
-This is complex AND luxurious without delving into sickening sweetness.

Bottle.

Appearance: Dark brown/black with finger thick tan head. Aroma: Treacle/toffee, vanilla, floral, plum, woody, peat, spiritous. Taste: Low/medium bitterness, low sweetness and sourness. Palate: Thick smooth oily texture, thick body, low carbonation, lingering bitter, smoky malty, liquorice, vanilla toffee finish with alcohol warmth. Comments: Lovely.
