COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, special
Our Imperial Oatmeal Stout has been brewed using a single temperature infusion mash. A large proportion of Scottish Oatmeal was combined with a profusion of English coloured malts to give an incredibly rich and decadent brew. To bring harmony to this powerful malt grist, English Fuggle hops were used exclusively for bittering and adding aromas of stone fruit. After primary fermentation and a period of conditioning, the beer was aged in famous Kentucky Bourbon barrels for six months, lending their unique influence to the final flavour. Conditioning was then finished in the bottle using Champagne yeast. Malts : Maris Otter, Flaked Oats, Crystal, Dark Crystal, Chocolate and Roast Barley Hops : Fuggles

Bottle shared at Bruce’s in London - huge thanks to Jack for this one. Pours black with a fairly thick, creamy tan head. Pretty standard dark malt nose, toast, faint cocoa. Medium sweet flavor, good alcohol, some bitter earth, baking cocoa, rich bread. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Oily chocolatey finish, lots of earthy bitterness, baking cocoa, earth. Good.

500ml bottle (Lahna, Helsinki) - Shared with Hanniu - massive thanks!
Lovely vanilla aroma, bourbon barrel everywhere. Lovely soft palate, full and smooth. Lovely, pant-wetting, mellow roast. Rich, but not aggressive. Just what you want from a bourbon barrel age stoutl

Bottle. Looking lovely in the glass this one, more or black in the glass, topped by a dense, tan head of moderate size. The aroma is a tad weak I think, with a tad too much alcohol, but not at unpleasant levels. Roasted malts and chocolate, a faint dried fruit note too. There’s a bourbon hint in the flavor, with roasted malts and chocolate. Lasting finish with the alcohol too evident. Still, although it’s too boozy, it’s sure a nice one. 140228

As with most BA beers this is a tad thin, but otherwise excellent bouron infused IRS. Vanilla, alcohol, chocolate, dark fruits with a warm finish. Boozy but not overtly so.
