Fin (2026), Merton, Oxfordshire, England May 4, 2008 Cask at Reading Beer Festival 02-05-08 following a two hour queue to get in grrrr! I only really got to taste this owing to Phil L getting a glass but I think that I just about had enough to justify a rating. This poured quite brown and had a nice malty and caramel nose. The flavour was as Phil stated very bready and yeasty and in that respect unlike any other Thornbridge beer that I’d had, it was a very traditional in many respects and I really liked it for being so ordinary because it was actually damn tasty and very well crafted as one would expect from such a good brewery.
fonefan (4062), Ulfborg, Denmark Jun 8, 2008 Cask gravity @ Reading Beer Festival 2008. Clear medium amber brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, chocolate. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. (020508) harrisoni (4915), Ashford, Kent, England May 30, 2008 Cask gravity at Reading BF 2008. Deep chestnut with lasting beige head. Spicy hop grapefruit on aroma. Full in mouth. Decent premium bitter, maybe not as hoppy as some T Hall beers. Finish is nicely hopped, maybe EKG. Tasty. chris_o (4393), London, Greater London, England May 28, 2008 Cask (gravity dispense) at Reading Beer Festival, May 2008. Nice rich deep copper colour. Pleasant fruity and dry hoppy aroma. Slightly odd fruity but dry flavour. Clean hops come through late. Pretty decent but not one of Thornbridge’s most distinctive efforts - fairly straightforward and easy drinking.
Mes_and_Sim (3967), London, Greater London, England May 5, 2008 A Mes rate: Gravicask at Reading Beer Festival. Dirty mid brown with a bubbly head. Lovely bready malt, lovely hoppage, slight tobacco and earthy notes. Very straight forward but a typically tasty offering from Thornbridge.
