Rich, pure honey in the nose, along with some dark malts. Big sweet flavor, lightly alcoholic, with sticky honey and burnt wood. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with deep, lasting honey, dark bread, light bitter cocoa, sturdy roast. Great, true honey character here.

500mL bottle, pours black with a medium brown head. Aroma is full of tobacco, wood and burnt roasted malt - don’t get any honey on the nose. Flavour brings out loads of highly roasted malt, some raisins, then the honey kicks in full out, ending on notes of burnt roasted malt. Quite full-bodied with the honey adding an usual element that takes a while to get used to, but is very complementary. Great stuff.

Pours pitch black with a tiny head. Aroma of bready and roasty malts, root beer, some licorice and honey. Taste is sweetish, spicy, roasty and bready with notes of root beer, licorice and honey. Finish is sticky, spicy and roasty with some root beer notes. A bit untypical and strange.

Pours a black colour with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and sweet honey. Flavour of roasted malts, honey, grassy hops, raisins, salty licorice and strong wood. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel and a roasty, salty, raisiny finish. Heavy stuff.

Aroma has root beer, some roasted notes and honey. Flavour has root beer, honey, some roasted notes and herbs. Quite good for a honey beer. I wonder how Thornbridge gets this root beer aroma in their beers?

Pours pitch black color with a medium sized beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, some mild honey notes, vanilla and wooden notes. Flavor of chocolate, vanilla, faint honey, roasted malts and dark dried fruits. Smooth creamy palate. Very nice.

Tap @ borefts beer festival 2012. Sticky black with barely no head. Honey and smoke and lots of alcohol. Could use some age though.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines Birmingham. Poured a deep crude oil like colour with a thin tan head. The flavour is big bitter, lots of liqourice, but with a creamy consistency. The alcohol starts to dominate in the palate and the aftertaste which I’m not keen on. Still a great beer though.

Sampled from bottle thanks to jmgreenuk @ Jim is John tasting. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized light brown head. Smell malts, roastyness, coffee. Taste malts, roastyness, coffee, bitter, chocolate and overripe fruits. Nicely balanced, medium to full body and carbonation.
