3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Light golden body that is unusually clear for a craft beer. The large, fairly creamy off-white head is both long-lived and sticks to the glass. Lovely and strong aroma with a good deal of sweet fruits, even though the tropical feel is a bit fainter than in many IPAs. Citrus, mainly grapefruit, pineapple and a grassy almost herby feel. The taste is light sweet with a moderate bitter rather long-lasting finish. The label promises a "crescendo of massive hoppiness", but that must be by British standards: the Jaipur is rather mellow and gentle. Quite strong flavours with grapefruits up front, the succulent tropical fruits are almost not there at all. Instead the grassy notes in the aroma are even more pronounced, and a pleasant touch of caramel makes the flavour profile very well balanced. Quite dry texture, soft to medium carbonation and medium body. A very nice and refreshing IPA with a moderate bitterness that should fit non-hopheads as well.
[50 cl bottle, enjoyed 4 months before BB date, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo]

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours gold with a large, fading head.
Nose shows herbal, spicy and grassy hops with soft clean malt underneath.
Flavours include laid-back spicy and herbal notes along with light malt.
Carbonation is high, suiting the beer well.
Very easy-drinking and approachable.

50cl bottle, BBE 12/2012. Poured clear golden with a lasting white head. Looks great. Aroma has tropical fruits, citrus, pelargonium. Flavor has citrus and blood grape, some grass towards finish. Bitter, citrusy finish. Solid IPA, good balance, great stuff. wow!

4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml Bottle. Aroma is very citrusy (overtly lemon but also grapefruit) and very little else except maybe some maltiness hidden well away in the background - it almost smells of lemon flash floor cleaner!! Appearance is a light golden yellow. Its slightly darker than its stable mate Kipling, but only just. While comparing to kipling its head vannishes even faster than that which is not a good thing in my book. Tastewise the nose transfers well and a slightly malty start is VERY quickly overcome by lemon and then kiwi fruit - loverrrrrrleeee!!!! - and then to s slightly dry bitter finish. All in all its a very very nice pint and if it wasn’t for its older sister that I had yesterday, AND its super flat head), maybe it would score a lot higher. But in comparison of the 2, Kipling for once is somewhat superior to Jaipur (even if Jaipur is stronger at 5.9%)

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear gold pour, white head. Aroma is maltier than I would have expected with a back note of some grassy and citrus hops. Flavor is lighter on the hops, some cereal grains and caramel.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clean as a whistle this. Modern and direct on the nose but the hops are subtle when compared to the US mod style. Hoppy palate with some mild aniseed bitterness but very much in check and a wonderful definition of "balance". It’s not massive, as per the commercial descriptor, but I’d rather drink this all day.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2012 Solid extra pale. Doesn’t really leap out at you but I could see it singing a little more on tap. Sweet candy and fruity hop nose. A bit thin and none too balanced. Some nice tropical fruit hops to finish, but again this is more finessed than a WC IPA. Think strong pale and you won’t go too far wrong. Tap rerate - bumped this up as really enjoyed the subtle WC influence, and as expected it did sing on tap.

Bottle. Golden/light amber colour. Hoppy, citrusy, tropical fruitiness, grass. Caramel and biscuity malt in the background. Smooth & balanced bitterness (for a IPA).

This was all over the place in England (on tap). Clear golden, white head, clinging viciously to the glass. Smooth, gentle, low bitterness. A good swirl brings out a subtle aroma. A little late bitterness. A decent British IPA but just that. (on cask at a pub in London near Fleet Street)
