3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at Monks Porter House. Really hazy light orange liquid with medium white head. Aroma of earthy and herbal hops, grass, tropical fruit, biscuit and grass. Taste is very light sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of tangerine and British hops. Bit low bitterness. Medium bodied with medium to high carbonation. Drinkable.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Hazy golden color with a white head. Hop profile is herbal and slightly floral with a slight hint of citrus and grass. Fairly dry nose with just a bit of bread and toasted malt sweetness. The flavor is only midly sweet, too. A bit of bread, some cracker notes, and an okay hop profile. Light bitterness of citrus peel with a light grass flavor to go along with the floral and herbal hop flavors.

Possibly the if not one of the first US style IPA's to be brewed in the UK. A true classic and a beer which possibly kick started the UK to emulate the US craft beer explosion. Yes Thornbridge were there before BrewDog as Martin Dikkie worked at Thornbridge before setting up BrewDog. Obviously there was already a surge in micro breweries in the UK and if Thornbridge hadn't got there someone else would have.
As for the beer: I wasn't expecting to be blown away, that may sound odd but slow me to explain. Jaipur when it first went national a few years back was an amazing taste sensation since then there are reports of Jaipur not having the same hoppy taste and our pallets have matured and we are used to the joys of sampling progressive beers from these shores and beyond.
However from the first sip to the last Jaipur is a joy to drink enough powerful hops to keep beer geeks interested smooth and creamy enough to be quaffable and wash back quickly. Something that I really enjoy in beer which, can be missed in DIPA's, barrel aged, barley wines etc. As much as I love these beer styles sometimes I rather go for something I can 'wash down my neck' (as it were) as beer was originally intended. At 5.9% it is dangerously quaffable too.
If you've never tried it: Please do! It is a must try like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
If you haven't had it in a long time as you have been busy trying all of the latest UK breweries sexy new releases and the imported beers that have just made it to our shores. I would say it's worth revisiting as humble a name as Thornbridge is across the land now the "innovation - Passion - Knowledge" still stands a testament to time.
Maybe that is the true test during this beer renaissance: will the beers stand upto the test of time? Only time will tell...

Fra fat på Cardinal: "I’ll kill that cat" - aroma. Mye humle i smaken, men den overveldende aromaen henger ved.
