A citrus dominated India Pale Ale, its immediate impression is soft and smooth yet builds to a crescendo of massive hoppiness accentuated by honey. An enduring, bitter finish.

Cask at Redlight. Pours a transparent light gold color with a frothy white cap. Smells of light floral citrus and mild hops. Simple and pleasant. The flavor was pretty crisp for cask ale. The hops were fairly abundant, but not overpowering. A little grapefruit was blended in too give it some balance. Really easy drinking nice brew. Im beginning to get a better feel for cask ale and can appreciate these English beers better.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2010 Fresh bottle, 2+ years after the below cask experience. Unlike the cask, the bottle yields hazy body, glowing a golden-orange amber color. The head is tall and frothy, just barely off-white in hue, leaving sticky, patchy swaths of lacing all over the glass. Aromas are clean and balanced, sporting a fresh and light hop profile that is predominantly lemon based, but also showing notes of juicy orange, white pepper, and grass. Malts are lightly sweet, made of fresh, doughy white bread and glazed cereal grain. Flavors follow suit, nicely balanced, if not weighted slightly towards the hoppy side of things. The dusty white pepper gangs up with the dry yeast to keep things zesty and parching. Lemon ring and fresh green grass concentrate on the lengthy finish. The palate shows a moderate body with active, but unobtrusive carbonation, initially slightly creamy but moving towards dry and yeasty on the back end. Good stuff. Liked it much better from the bottle than from cask. 7/5/7/4/15 = 3.8

Cask at Redlight Redlight. Pours a crystal clear, medium golden body. A small, foamy, pure white head leaves behind thick rings of dense lacing all the way down the glass. The aroma is of dry toasted grains, light caramel, faintly sweet, fruity citrus, and some mild grassy hops. The flavor follows suit, with the grassy hops asserting themselves a bit more. There is a faint, but slightly annoying metallic note in there somewhere. Subtle citrus. The body is creamy and smooth, but on the lighter side of things. Finishes long and grassy, with bitterness intensifying as the mouth dries. Feels like a crossbred IPA-ESB to me. Nice brew. 6/3/7/3/14 = 3.3

cask @ redlight redlight. Sweet citrus, with notes of honey and some hoppy bitter aromas. Pours straw blonde with a huge white head. Very nice bitterness, sweet upfront, some citrus and a lot of honey malts followed by a good bitter finish. Feels like a nice combo of an english ipa with a little american hops in there. Very nice beer, very nice on cask.

Bottle from Uto. Clear and pale gold with a thin but lasting white head. Malt, tropical fruits and grassy hops in the nose. Grassy hops hold back, letting the malt take center stage, until the finish where they see you off with a little sweetness to boot. Thank you, come again...Ok, I will...

poured from cask at papago...a clear golden orange with a fluffy white head that lasts all the way down to the bottom of the glass leaving behind a trail of pillowy lacing. aroma is a mild mix of pale malt, lemon, skunky pine hops and some wood. medium body with a creamy cask texture. flavor is similar to the aroma...muted with some hop spice and earthiness and finishing with some floral notes.

Stillage @ CAMRA York Beer Festival, november 07. Yellow color with a long lasting, medium, bubbly white head. Lots of citric hops on the nose with some pineapple notes and some mineral and sulphur notes. Citric, pineapple flavor with bready malts and an earthy english hops finnish. Nice. Medium palate, refreshing, very well rounded with a dry and refreshing palate. Very nice english IPA.

Pours light golden with a mostly receding white head. Aroma of English hops, with vinous, spicy and woodsy tones. Taste is lightly herbal with a musky citrus and spicy notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with little to no carbonation from the cask.

Cask at Mugs Ale House: Hazy, honey colored pour with a frothy white head. Aroma shows some fruity qualities of apricot and some resinous hop hints. The body is lacking. The flavor is very earthy and dirty with restrained hops. It seems only bittering hops come through in the finish. No fruitiness or hop depth in the flavor. The only hop depth in this IPA is the aromatic, apricoty qualities in the nose. Kind of boring, and lacking balance, in my humble opinion.
