A citrus dominated India Pale Ale, its immediate impression is soft and smooth yet builds to a crescendo of massive hoppiness accentuated by honey. An enduring, bitter finish.

Yes, English understated and smooth drinking craftmanship, yet delivers an IBU bitterness that wakes up the taste buds. Enjoyble drinkability, though more of a sipper to save the buds from being shredded. from Premiere Gourmet.

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours turbid canary straw with 3-finger uniform white head. Nose is pale malt, piney resiny hops, tangerine. Tastes hoppy, sticky, resiny, with pale malt, tangerine, black pepper, and a gargantuan depth of flavor and complexity.

Bottle.Pours clear golden with a big creamy/frothy white head.Fresh hoppy aroma, tropical fruits. Taste is moderate hoppy, very crisp and fresh, but what a lovely fresh taste of fruity and citrussy hops, and moderate sweet malts, apricots and peach. Fizzy mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Long and fruity aftertaste, splendid beer.

Bottle. Moderate malt notes of cereal and caramel, grapefruit and orange for the hops, light soap and musty for the yeast, with a hint of pear in the background. Head is average size, frothy, slightly off-white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is light hazy amber. Flavor starts moderately to heavily acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is light to medium, a bit slick, with a lively carbonation and finishes lightly astringent. Not as complex in flavor as I like in an IPA, but everything else is true to the English style.

Draft. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy citrus and sweet aroma. Medium to full body with smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bitter flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid drinkable brew that exceeded my expectations.

Slightly murky, good lacing. Aroma is citrus hop dominated with a nice smooth taste. The hops finish clean in your mouth. No weird aftertaste.

Slightly hazy gold with a clingy white head, aroma of sharp hops with a bit of floral, body brings a big malty bite with faint hints of honey and pepper, but still with those sharp grassy and citrus hops. Long astringent bitter finish.

Cask at the Gallows Bird, Espoo, Finland. XIV Real Ale Festival.
Clear golden colour with small frothy head. Strong fruity citrusy bitter hoppy aroma. Flavour is very strong bitter hoppy. Not so much fruitiness. Some malty sweetness. Bitterness stays.

ContemplateBeer (1540) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - JAN 18, 2011
Bottle from Louisville Beer Store. Aroma of substantial floral/resin hops, white sugar and lemon zest. Appearance is caramel gold with viscous white head that stayed throughout at some level. Flavor matches the nose, with a little honey on the front; the finish is mostly floral hops with a hint of resin and some caramel malt sweetness. Palate is creamy and the mouthfeel soft and slightly oily. Very good IPA that was more than a hop bomb.

Moderate floral hop aroma. Cloudy orange color with a small white head. Light bitter beginning that fades in the finish. Light palete.
