4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 harrisoni (11023) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - OCT 23, 2005
UPDATED: DEC 23, 2008 Cask gravity at Notts BF 05. Just about my beer of the festival. Intense hop aroma. Pale gold with lasting white head. Citric hop is lovely. Grapefruit. Terrific in mouth and finish is excellent. Some sweetish malt in mouth to balance. Then gorgeous hop finish. Alcohol makes it a tad too sweet. Not that good on day 2 when Haddonsman had it. Re-rate. on handpull at Coach & Wagon, Dronfield. The best pint of this Ive ever had in Thornbridges own pub too. Pure delight in a glass. The hop profile is just perfect for me. I love everything about this beer.

Much is said about this beer. It is all down to personal taste, but this beer is exceptional. Rich juicy citric aroma and floral fruity initial taste, this is a light golden strong ipa ale, with a powerful deep hoppy finish. This ale has won almost every beer award, and justifiably continues too win awards, don’t be put off by some individuals who this beer is not a match for, definitely try this one.
If you love this beer its worth trying Marstons "Old Empire" IPA which is similar strength.

Well, what can you say, Mark had especially saved this one from the beer festival as i’d seen how highly rated it was here and suggested we could have a go at it later on. It didn’t disappoint, this beer is exactly what i enjoy drinking the most!
A mid golden to orange coloured beer with a thick white head. a heady citrus aroma of grapefruits and oranges, followed by a slightly biscuity finish. The taste is very dry, hoppy, with strong citrus fruit flavours, dry, tart grapefruit, lemon and orange, then a bone dry finish. Perfect! (Cask - @ The Fox & Hounds, Heacham, Norfolk).

4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Herkybird (21) - YORK, North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - NOV 3, 2010
On cask at the Punch Bowl, Stonegate York. I generally don’t like IPAs much, but this one is quite exceptional; by far the best I’ve had. It pours a beautiful amber with a white head, has a nice hop nose and then delights the palate with a perfect balance of smooth malt and hops. It does not suffer from the excessive hoppiness too many IPAs have and just delivers massive and delicious flavour without any offensive characteristics.. Many 6% beers have an overpowering alcohol taste but this hides it well. I had to have second just to confirm how really excellent it was.

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2013 IPA aroma reminded me of San Diego beers. Lovely drop.

Bottled: Clear yellow colour, dense head. Aroma is cookie dough, goose berries and tropical fruits. Taste is lots of tropical fruit (apricots, mango), pine, wood, resin. Crisp, refeshing, well balanced and very drinkable.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Crunchie (36) - Somerset, ENGLAND - JAN 11, 2009
I’ve always been a fan of this beer and recently I had some that didn’t drop bright. There was a huge haze. It was marvellous. Citrus and tropical fruits, sweetness and bitterness, a classic beer - it seems obvious in a way yet it’s the beautiful way in which it’s balanced and the flavour unfolds. There is complexity and moreishness. Excellent brewing and I say keep it so you can’t see through it.
4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 nutpea (17) - , NEW ZEALAND - AUG 29, 2009
Tried on cask at the coach and horses Dronfield.First impressions are important and this doesn’t disappoint, so sick of ’IPA’s’ that are 3.7ish % and copper coloured, talk about false advertising! Lovely colour, very very pale thank goodness! Very obviously not English hops used in this bad boy and hot damn it’s GOOD! Passionfruit aromas followed by a sweet honey body with a mixture of pine and citrus followed by a nice bitterness, really easy drinking for it’s abv and i finished off feeling slightly pished!
