A citrus dominated India Pale Ale, its immediate impression is soft and smooth yet builds to a crescendo of massive hoppiness accentuated by honey. An enduring, bitter finish.

500ml Bottle. Aroma is very citrusy (overtly lemon but also grapefruit) and very little else except maybe some maltiness hidden well away in the background - it almost smells of lemon flash floor cleaner!! Appearance is a light golden yellow. Its slightly darker than its stable mate Kipling, but only just. While comparing to kipling its head vannishes even faster than that which is not a good thing in my book. Tastewise the nose transfers well and a slightly malty start is VERY quickly overcome by lemon and then kiwi fruit - loverrrrrrleeee!!!! - and then to s slightly dry bitter finish. All in all its a very very nice pint and if it wasn’t for its older sister that I had yesterday, AND its super flat head), maybe it would score a lot higher. But in comparison of the 2, Kipling for once is somewhat superior to Jaipur (even if Jaipur is stronger at 5.9%)

Pours a golden honey color, much lighter than most IPA’s. Small white head. Big floral (roses?) and honey aromas. A perfect balance of malt and hops; neither overpowers the other—and with the current trend of “big” IPA’s, a smoother, balanced one stands out in the crowd. Distinguishable notes of pineapple in the taste. I’d have this one again in a heartbeat.

Bottle. Golden amber, off white, lasting head. Intense and rich floral hoppy aroma with hints of apricot, citrus and some pine. Pleasant, well marked bitterness. A very nice IPA, challenging the best from the USofA.

Cask conditioned at Merton Beer Festival Fri July 7th 2006. This beer was the fourth in a quartet of beers that for me were head and shoulders above all else available over this weekend. Warm golden in colour with a small head, the hoppy aroma struck you like a bolt of lightning it really was intense, coupled with some zingy citrus aroma’s flying around as well. This was a really lovely nice sweet superbly hoppy beer that had a drying finish. The taste was excellent and I can only think that sandwiching this between the Black Adder and 1872 Porter is the reason I haven’t give it an even higher rating, I should have tried this first, on its own without the taste of intense coffee and chocolate bitterness still lasting in my mouth from my previous beer. This beer is gonna’ win some awards it really is wonderful, great write up below from Glenn imdownthepub.

Tasted from the bottle at Kelly Ryan’s Thornbridge Tasting at the Malthouse. Pours a lovely light gold. Aroma features complex blend grapefruit, floral notes, and biscuity malt. In the mouth the beer is seriously well balanced with wonderful citrussy hops layered on some fantastic rich pale malt and a solid bitter finish.

Bottle. A clear and sparkling dark yellow beer, with a large, frothy, lightly lacing, fully lasting, white head. The aroma is lightly to moderately malty (biscuits, toasted bread), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, lemon, grass, flowers), with notes of honey and all kinds of exotic fruits, perhaps a touch of tea. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation, dry, very long finish with moderate bitterness. A great British IPA, mightily hopped, but refined (a rarity). In the end it doesn’t even feel 100% IPA, but it feels 100% a great beer

Cask at the Cask Pub & Kitchen on 26th March 2010. Clear gold with a white head. Viciously hoppy with grapefruit notes. Rich and intense blend of floral and grassy hop. Excellent hoppy aftertaste and increasingly dry bitter finish.

500 ml bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours cloudy golden orange color with a nice 1-2 finger dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Good soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of big pineapple, orange, mango, lemon, herbal, floral, grass, grapefruit, bread, and earthy spiciness. Very nice aromas with good strength and balance; very pleasant. Taste of big grapefruit, orange zest, bread, herbal, floral, grass, mango, and earthy spiciness. Good amount of herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, bread, herbal, floral, grass, and earthy spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic flavor balance of malt sweetness/bitterness; with zero astringent hop flavors. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with almost no warming noticed after the finish. Very smooth and drinkable. Overall this is a highly excellent English IPA! Great flavor balance and hop complexity; and extremely smooth to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle sample. Slightly hazy yellow color with a small white head. Huge fruity nose - tropical, citrus and some pines. Clean malt flavor with rich hop flavors of NZ hops and earth and med-hi bitterness. Long hoppy finish, medium body and very good.
