COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular. Also available bottled.
A citrus dominated India Pale Ale, its immediate impression is soft and smooth yet builds to a crescendo of massive hoppiness accentuated by honey. An enduring, bitter finish.

Only slightly clouded, it is golden with a thick frothy head. The citrus, especially lemon and grapefruit are dominant in both the flavour and aroma.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours golden/yellow with a crisp white head. Aroma has mostly citrus and floral hops, backed up by cookie dough malt. Taste is as aroma but quite bland, though crisp and doesn’t live up to what the aroma promised. Quite thin and watery.

Pours a clear golden color. Off white head falls to a thin skim. Nose is a blend of light sweet malt, dry crisp hops. Taste is fairly malty IPA with some mlt hoppiness. Light / medium body and crip active carbonation.

Bottle. hazy orange with a steay white head. Nose is herbal, lemon, lime, earwax, sticky sweetness. Flavor is similar, hops are pretty faded. Had the Halycon on tap at CK in DC and it was fresh as hell but this shit seems way done. Light citrus, but mainly just grainy malt.

Cask at Alla Spina. Cloudy orange with a thick light tan head. LIght floral, citrus hop aroma. Taste of yeast funk, light citrus from the hops, and musty otter taint.

over all a bit of a mild beer. Mild in bitterness and aroma. Well made but was looking for somehing a little tastier and interesting than what I got.

On tap in Chmielarnia, Warsaw. Pale yellow in color, perfectly clear, with modest white head. Aroma is fresh and citrusy. Light body, tastes of lemon, with a hint of grass and maybe a trace of yeasty esters. A very solid IPA, but not outstanding in any way.

Bottle. High creamy and lasting white head. Hazy thin yellow body. Aroma well could not smell anything. Acidic sour lemon nut flavor. Heavy carbonation. Long bitter aftertaste.

I received a 500ml bottle from a friend in England. I poured it into a nonic pint glass.

Appearance: bright, almost fluorescent banana-skin yellow. Slight hazy. Forms a fluffy, white head which retains well and leaves nice lacing.

Smell: Due to the olive-green bottle this beer has clearly skunked as if it were in a light green bottle like Heineken. A deep inhalation reveals some citrusy notes, but otherwise it’s not very aromatic.

Taste: Sometimes a skunky-smelling beer isn’t quite as foul in the taste, but Thornbridge Jaipur was just as bad in the palate. From start to finish there’s a sharp sour tang with an accompanying hop bitterness. If I really dig deep I notice some lemony qualities, but they are buried by the skunky sourness. The bitterness almost seems salty in a way and perhaps if I had some food to go with this beer it would help balance out the flaws.

I know the beer isn’t meant to taste this way, but I have to review what’s presented before me and even though the bottle’s freshness date would seem to indicate it’s quite a fresh beer, there’s plenty of things that could account for the skunkiness. I can tell there’s something more genuine, refined, and authentic to this palate at the core, but the spoilage is obscuring it.

Mouthfeel: Slightly thick, tepid and noticeably dry while in the mouth.

Drinkability: While only 5.9% ABV, Jaipur drinks as if it were a beer twice its size. The salty bitterness is very strong on the tongue and the dry, salty aftertaste is as far from refreshing as you can get. I could tolerate the palate, but I had to drink it in sips. I think a fresher bottle would be more drinkable.

Overall, a very disappointing experience especially considering this was a gift from a friend directly from the source (or the home country at least).

So thin it dissolves all the other flavors. There ate hops in the finish and that is nice, bu thats about it. Tap at bbf13, day 2
