COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular. Also available bottled.
A citrus dominated India Pale Ale, its immediate impression is soft and smooth yet builds to a crescendo of massive hoppiness accentuated by honey. An enduring, bitter finish.

Hazy and orange/amber in color - a little darker than a hefeweizen. Not overly hoppy or bitter, at least not compared to the IPA’s here in the states. Maybe this is massive hoppiness for a British beer ;-) The taste is great, though. A combination of hop bitterness, citrus notes (with a hint of sourness), and a light, bready flavor. Between this beer and Kipling, Thornbridge has quickly become my favorite British brewery.

Cask at Spinning Jenny, Manchester Airport. Golden with a creamy white head. Citrus aroma, bitter lemon flavour with an underlying cereal taste. Thick, syrupy mouth feel. Excellent

Bloody fantastic. Stronger than my first girlfriend. Too strong to drink in the quantities I would like. Lovely hoppy IPA with tons of taste.

Bottle from Daddy-o. Pale, clear with minimal head. Deceptively drinkable. Soft citrus but with a dry bitter finish that builds. Great balance of flavours here.

Part of Matt's 31st birthday haul. Clear light gold-green with creamy white head and wet spotty lacing. Smells of strong citrus fruit, honey, woody floral hop, light almost smoky/white pepper spice. Tastes of light lemon malt, grassy mineral hop, bitter resin finish. Medium-to-light bodied. Aroma is nice and sweet without being unbalanced or cloying; taste is a little thin but not bad.

Bottle from Bottle Shop at home. Clear sunny yellow pour with fine head and lots of champagne like vertical streams of bubbles. Aroma is fresh citrus hops. Taste is similar - citrus hoppiness, some resin on the finish. Not much lasting flavor. Crisp, nice, surprisingly full-flavored for an English IPA. Good.

UPDATED: JUN 8, 2015 What more appropriate day to review this than on the beer’s 10th anniversary!

Bottle from Craft Õllepood in Tallinn (€ 3.60); BB 15.04.2016. Pours a surprisingly clear bright, almost greenish yellow with a huge top, off-white in colour, retaining and lacing quite nicely. On the nose it’s ripe, citrusy and resiny with some herbal spiciness - yarrow? nettle? spruce? There’s also a malty and sliiiightly caramelly base, and it’s warmer I get a pungent musky note too. Tastes fresh and clean, lots of tropical fruitiness and sweet tangerines; some caramel there... and lots of peaches and mango, but not as juicy fullness, but rather as lemonady crispiness. Beautiful sweet/bitter balance, although the bitterness is more enhanced. The body is medium with a tiny minus, but by no means watery, whereas the carbonation is crisp, giving it an excellent quenching quality (obviously helped by the rather low ABV). The citrusy (there’s a slight grapefruit seed effect) finish is coated in a mellow honey-like sweetness. This is very pleasant, a beautiful benchmark beer!
