Typical of a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc wine, this wonderful South Pacific Ale has a great grassy nose with kiwi fruits in abundance. The wonderful fruity mouth gives way to a great bitter finish. 5.2%

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2016 500ml bottle Waitrose, Beckenham - Gold colour, pours a nice head, with light lacing. Pleasing assault of tropical fruit on tasting (grapefruit/kiwi most prominent) with a nice bitter aftertaste. Edit# Rated again on bottle on recent trip back to UK, not as amazing as I remember in my early rating days in 2012, but still very nice. Score revised.

500 ml bottle purchased at Zipps in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The pour is a hazy yellow golden with a one inch white head that breaks apart quick and falls with a touch of lacing. The aroma initially has a touch of skunk, then opens up to tropical fruits, white grape and a dry earthy woodiness that pulls it together. The taste is dry tropical fruit and earthiness of the Nelson Sauvin, opening up to a dry toasted cracker malt base. The hops and malt are clean, and nicely dry. The palate is light bodied, active soft natural carbonation and a nicely unfiltered mouth feel. Easy drinking and tasty beer.

Foamy white full lasting head. Golden colour. Aroma is malty, fruity (pineapple, banana, mango) with grapefruit notes. Flavor is malty too with fruity (grapefruit and passion fruit) and light biscuits tones, ending in a balanced slightly bready finish. Light to medium bodied.

Some kiwi flavors, but mostly what I was getting was grapefruit. A refreshing but light bodied and drinkable pale ale.

Light coloured pale ale with a superb nose of tropical fruits, there’s plenty of taste in it too.
