Cask & Cold Filtered Bottle; Regular.
Typical of a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc wine, this wonderful South Pacific Ale has a great grassy nose with kiwi fruits in abundance. The wonderful fruity mouth gives way to a great bitter finish. 5.2%

16.9 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a clear straw color - I can immediately tell this doesnít have much malt to it. The head is a frothy two finger white shade. The retention is solid and some decent (if inconsistent) lacing is left behind. Pretty good looking. S: This does a good job of showing off Nelson hops, and itís not even uber fresh! Notes of pine, lemon, grape skin, and some tropical fruits come through quite well. Not much of a malt backbone comes through in the nose. Some slight soapiness detracts, but otherwise this is a solid hoppy aroma. T: Hop flavor hits the palate immediately. Tropical fruit, some grapefruit, and slight herbal qualities are the main notes provided here. The finish isnít soapy at all, with only a mild, non-intrusive sweetness; actually, itís even a little juicy. The problem here isnít the flavor...itís the lack of flavor. While it is VERY pleasant and VERY balanced (Iím impressed how they hid the bitterness with such a feeble malt backbone), itís sadly too unassuming for its own good. Actually, you know what, I donít care...this just gets better and better the more I drink it. Itís delicate and subtle in all the right places. M: This is so light and crisp its unbelievable. Iím just killing this like itís nothing. The soft yet impressive carbonation is definitely helping it here - and thereís just enough of a dry finish to help it even further. O: If the flavor was íbiggerí so to speak, it would kill many íMurican-brewed pale ales stone dead. Still, this is more-or-less everything I want from the style. What a shame itís so expensive...

Golden with a thin, lasting white head, some floating sediment. Fresh grassy hops and juicy grapefruit in the nose. Taste is initially bitter hops and again grapefruit with an underlying maltyness. Itís good stuff

From a 500 ml bottle at Il Maltese. Pale gold, slightly hazy, with a tiny, bubbly, moderately persistent white head. A true tropical fruit explosion, intense, powerful and quite fresh. Very hoppy, notes of mint, bubblegum, pine needles, quite leafy and "green", if that makes any sense. Slightly astringent, moderately bitter but very clean, tasty and aromatic. Tiny malt backbone, tropical fruity aftertaste. Soft carbonation, light to medium body, creamy texture. Lovely.

Light hazy straw yellow coloured beer with quite delicate head on top but lots of nice lacing. Aroma has lots of tropical fruits from the Nelson Sauvin hops. There is citrus and grapefruit too. Nicely fresh aroma. Taste starts with citrus and grapefruit. Then sweeter tropical fruits kick in. Not that bitter so pretty nice fresh APA. Medium body with medium carbonation. Excellent fresh American Pale Ale. Or one could say, South Pacific Pale Ale.

Citrus fruits and Mangos in the taste. Fine carbonation, golden pale color and superb hoppy bitterness.

Bottle from Cambridge Wine Merchants (Mill Road). Straw colour, clear. Impressive but short-lived white head. Decent fruity aroma: citrus, pineapple, lemon drops. Well-balanced taste: bitter but not too much so. Turns to a luscious lemony sour-bitter at the end. Nice touch. Just the right amount of carbonation.

Pours slightly cloudy golden with a little white head. The aroma features floral and fruity notes with a touch of honeyed maltiness - a bit more subdued in hoppiness than I expected. Taste is fairly well balanced between pale maltiness and fruity hoppiness. The palate is light to medium bodied, slick and average in carbonation. Nice but would have enjoyed a sharper hop bite.

Great aroma, and the hops really do give it nice delicate tropical fruit flavours - almost tastes like a punch at the start. The body is pretty full for a light bottled APA.

bottle, thanks mowbeer, seemed like a good bottle to walk around bamberg with. fresh and zesty aroma - pine and grapefruit nectar; fair old whack of bitterness, hints of fruit tella; very drinkable

Pours a hazy orange yellow with a thin off white head. Aroma of citrus and pepper. Taste is sweet with notes of apricot And orange. Just enough bitterness to round out the sweetness. Finish is dry and crisp. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

4/30/2011. From bottle. Light orange with a white head. Aromas of citrus, malt and hops. Floral and hoppy without being over the top. Nice balance.
