Cask at the Euston Tap. Dark garnet pour with a sturdy, white cream head. Malty aroma, with some cinnamon and other wintery spices, sugarplums, and hazelnut. Lovely, spicy flavor with perhaps nuitmeg and cinnamon, along with gingerbread, and faintly bitter lemon. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Dries out a good bit in the finish, with lingering spices, some ginger tang, and sweet bread, along with modest bitterness. Better than decent.

A dark maple amber ale with a thin moka head. In aroma, faint caramel malt and herbal British hops. In mouth, a light nutty and woody malt with herbaceous green hops, astringence, light maple notes, not bad. Cask at Get Real NY, March 19th 2011.

On cask warm. It smells pretty great with some flowery lavender, the taste is a lot more tame and perhaps lacks the flavor I would have liked.

Cask, handpump at The Wellington, Birmingham 13-12-09 Pours chestnut with a slim white head. The aroma is malty and spicy. Taste is malty with demarara sugar, caramel and a dry bitterness which is quite subdued and comes through at the end. Fine enough but not quite up to the usual Thornbridge high standards. Cask at Get Real New York. Deep amber pour. The nose is of lavender, hibiscus and stewed fruit as well. A little bit of astringency on the back of the soft pale malt. A bit of woodiness toward the finish as well. Decent flavour - but the palate isn’t quite right.
