COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask and bottles; semi-regular.
Originally released a for the Chesterfield CAMRA festival.
Renamed as Wild Raven in 2013 due to another beer going by the name "Raven" elsewhere
The recipe for the brew came from James Kemp, who joined the team a few months ago. Previously crowned the New Zealand Home Brewing Champion in 2008 and winner of a Liberty Award, Kemp used Maris Otter, Black Patent and Chocolate malt along with Nelson Sauvin, Centennial and Sorachi hops.
The beer, called Raven, has bitterness and hop character and plenty of malt flavours to give it complexity.
James moved on to Buxton brewery and is now a freelance brewer

Bottle - 500ml. Dark brown body with an average beige foamy/creamy head. Decent malty aroma with hoppy, brown sugar, and fruity hints. Its well balanced malty/hoppy taste carries woody and grainy notes. Ends with a good, moderately warming, bittersweet finish. Enjoyable.

Fantastisk krona, som badskum. Mycket söt. Lite diskmedel tycker Max. Liten beska. Aningen bränd smak. Lätt kaffetonad. Inget speciellt, lite småtrevlig men egentligen inte värt att bekanta sig med ytterligare. 3

500 ml bottle. BB 10/04/13. Kuikka, Helsinki, Finland.
Dark reddish brown colour with small to average sized foamy tan head. Intensive strong fruity and resiny hoppy aroma. Liquorice, salty liquorice, fruity hops, bitterness and mildly roasted malt in tasty flavour. Excellent! Balanced and enjoyable. Slightly thinnish.

2012.10.09 - bottle 50cl - bottle itself : nice layout - dark brown beer - nose : chocolate, malts, hops, and again (for this brewery) a kind of herb i remember from walking along the river at the house where i spent my childhood - tongue : malts, hints of coffee, chocolate and ... citrus - good beer but according to the ratings i expected more

Bottle. Black, mahogny, clear. Nose has a really nice fruity hoppy character. Like hop glands dumped into a glass, citrusy, some pine. Riwaka-like. Underneat lies a good bead of roasted malts, some choco. Body is medium. Good citrus, floral tones. Explosive flavours. This might well be my fav black ipa. So much of the fruity hoppiness. A bit short on the black, roasty tones though. A really hoppy-flavour black ipa. Not too bitter though. I’m guessing loads of hop extract.

Strong hop aroma. Light black colour fluffy white head. Light body and light balance between hops and malts. Feels a lot lighter than 6,6%.

600 ml bottle - pours deep brown with a yellow-white head. Aroma is very hoppy; chocolate; tangerine. Medium body with roasty and bitter balance, caramelly and cholocalte taste. Like it for a Black IPA.

(Bottle, 0.5 l, at Pikkulintu, 20120927) The beer poured deep dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had pine, fruitiness and liquorice. Flavours were pine, fruitiness, liquorice, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, fruity, mildly roasty and bitter. A nice balanced and tasty beer some people call as black IPA.

Bottle from Thornbridge pub. Very hoppy indeed with a nice dark malt flavour. This may sound geeky but there is a lot of sorachi ace flavour in there.
