Cask and bottles; semi-regular.
Originally released a for the Chesterfield CAMRA festival.
Renamed as Wild Raven in 2013 due to another beer going by the name "Raven" elsewhere
The recipe for the brew came from James Kemp, who joined the team a few months ago. Previously crowned the New Zealand Home Brewing Champion in 2008 and winner of a Liberty Award, Kemp used Maris Otter, Black Patent and Chocolate malt along with Nelson Sauvin, Centennial and Sorachi hops.
The beer, called Raven, has bitterness and hop character and plenty of malt flavours to give it complexity.
James moved on to Buxton brewery and is now a freelance brewer

Fad. Meget mørk rødbrun. 1cm kompakt offwhite skum, som hænger pænt ved i glasset. Fyr og mandarin i aroma. Samme i smag med medium bitterhed. Lav carb, god fylde. Tør lethed i eftersmag.

Bottled. Piney nose, tangerine, grapefuit, grapes, notes of charcoal roastedness. Very fresh aroma. Dry flavor pale ale base, a touch of caramel, high level of resinous bitterness. Slightly ashy, dry bitter finish. Medium body. Very good stuff. Dry and fresh with amazing drinkability - just the way I like my black IPA.

Tap @ William K Kurvi, Helsinki. Pours black with a good-sized, nice, stylish, beige-colored head. Aroma is hoppy with grapefruit and passionfruit. Taste is grapefruit, passionfruit, lemon peel, some roast and wooden taste. Gets a bit more dull and malty as it warms up. Light with decent carbonation.

On tap at The Local Pub, Athens Greece. Dark ruby color, clear, with a thin white head. Hoppy aromas of some fruits, not so prominent. Taste somewhat bitter, but never felt the Black characteristics. Maybe some maltiness, but that’s all. bitter aftertaste, not so strong. Medium body with medium to high carbonation.

Keg at Euston tap. Had this a few time before, first time time tick. Clear dark copper caramel, lasting off white cream head. Aroma is fruity as a in fruits with pineapple lychee and coconut. I taste some sorachi ace funk in this. Flavour is solid clean citrus coconut bitterness. Malt is soft roast and caramel. So so drinkable.

Pours a deep brown color with orange highlights and a large light tan head. The smell is fruity with pineapple, mango, citrus with some pine and below it all some roast. The taste is caramel, pine some of the fruit flavors come in later along with some roast but the pine and caramel remain the core flavors. medium in body with nice carbonation.

500ml bottle. Clear dark black-brown amber colour, frothy beige foam head leaving some lacing and aroma of caramel plus pineapple & citrusy woody pine hop resin. Taste is rich sweetish roast malt & caramel with a hoppy orange citrus bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, warming earthy dry lingering bitter finish. Very drinkable Black IPA.
