Cask and bottles; semi-regular.
Originally released a for the Chesterfield CAMRA festival.
Renamed as Wild Raven in 2013 due to another beer going by the name "Raven" elsewhere
The recipe for the brew came from James Kemp, who joined the team a few months ago. Previously crowned the New Zealand Home Brewing Champion in 2008 and winner of a Liberty Award, Kemp used Maris Otter, Black Patent and Chocolate malt along with Nelson Sauvin, Centennial and Sorachi hops.
The beer, called Raven, has bitterness and hop character and plenty of malt flavours to give it complexity.
James moved on to Buxton brewery and is now a freelance brewer

Draft. Not much of an aroma. Taste is like an actual grapefruit. And that’s about it.

50cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Deep dark brown to black with a red hue, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, liquorice, laurel, pine, earth, grapefruit, very potent aroma. Flavour is quite bitter, hard roasted malts, black liquorice, grapefruit, pine, resin, almost ashy, firm bitter hoppy finish with a little grain. Light to medium-bodied. Nice.

Draught at Breukelen Bier Merchants (NYC). Pours dark brown with amber head and lace. Aroma is earth, light fruit and floral notes, with pepper. Taste is balanced earth, spice, charred toast, clean bitterness. Feel is dry, prickly, clean with a silty finish. One of the better black IPAs I have had. Gets high marks ignoring the fact this style is almost entirely a bad idea.

One of my favourite black ipa's. It combines the malty and the fruity in a delicious marriage. It smells amazing. And after that is a pleasant ride that keeps you longing for more! ---Rated via Beer Buddy (iOs)

50 cL bottle at home. Pours clear brown with a medium, dense, off-white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma has some roast, chocolate and earthy notes combined with pine and a bit of fruitiness. Taste has a little bit of fruitiness as well, some chocolate, roast, hops and a medium bitter finish. Medium body and soft to medium carbo. A very well balanced beer, excellent stuff.

50cl bottle, poured in to IPA glass. Pours coca-cola black, with brownish duallayered head. Aroma of chocolate and orange. Complex combination of malts and hops. Full bodied beer, but something is missing. Best alternative for a traditional baltic porter on your xmas table.

Bottle from Bierkoning. Clear dark brown pour just barely still translucid. Aroma is quite piney, there is some Thornbridge brand hoppiness, but also a detectable lemony (lemon pledge) sorachi ace touch that is quite characteristic. Taste is bitter, nice malty sweetness, strong roasty finish, well built, on the hoppy stout side of things more than just a dark IPA. Palate is med-full bodied, creamy, with light-med carbonation. Tasty.
