Originally released a for the Chesterfield CAMRA festival.
Renamed as Wild Raven in 2013 due to another beer going by the name "Raven" elsewhere
The recipe for the brew came from James Kemp, who joined the team a few months ago. Previously crowned the New Zealand Home Brewing Champion in 2008 and winner of a Liberty Award, Kemp used Maris Otter, Black Patent and Chocolate malt along with Nelson Sauvin, Centennial and Sorachi hops.
The beer, called Raven, has bitterness and hop character and plenty of malt flavours to give it complexity.
James moved on to Buxton brewery and is now a freelance brewer

Bottled. A very dark, red-brown, almost black beer with a small, light brown head. A great mixture of coffee, chocolate, pin,e and yellow fruits on the nose. A combination of sweet fruit flavours from the hops and a rich body of coffee and chocolate, followed by a very dry, slightly smoky, coffee finish. Perfect balance of flavours, warmth, and bitterness. Fantastic!

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer and Beyond, Tel Aviv. Clear deep brownish with medium beige head. The aroma is very creamy and hoppy, notes of garlic, floral, some fruitiness and citrus, notes of roasted malt, a bit soapy with hint of licorice. Very complex flavor, hoppy, somewhat buttery, grassy, notes of roasted malt and citrus, soapy, moderate bitterness. Moderate carbonation, medium to full-bodied. Excellent.

Pours a dark ruby red with eggshell head. Pure IPA with floral, and citrusy hops on the nose. Flavours bring more pine and citrus with an addition of tropical fruits. Hints of chocolate malt make for a nice accent, while a bready malt character keeps a good balance.
