Cask and bottles; semi-regular.
Originally released a for the Chesterfield CAMRA festival.
Renamed as Wild Raven in 2013 due to another beer going by the name "Raven" elsewhere
The recipe for the brew came from James Kemp, who joined the team a few months ago. Previously crowned the New Zealand Home Brewing Champion in 2008 and winner of a Liberty Award, Kemp used Maris Otter, Black Patent and Chocolate malt along with Nelson Sauvin, Centennial and Sorachi hops.
The beer, called Raven, has bitterness and hop character and plenty of malt flavours to give it complexity.
James moved on to Buxton brewery and is now a freelance brewer

Raven Black IPA is probably the best IPA that i’ve drank. Malt and hops are in perfect balance in this beer. Taste starts with aseet aroma of dark brown malt and continues to bitter and dry finish. I could drink this all night!

Nice hoppy IPA with a roasted malt body. The bitterness and the body aftertaste harmonizes not bad, but a bit more balance in the malt-bitterness part might be beneficial.

Bottle, 500 ml from Pivoljub, Ljubljana. Pours black with lasting white head. Fruity hoppy and bit roasted aroma. Caramel, roasted malts, hops with bitteer finish. Good one.

Roast and some light citrus. Good product here that holds up well on cask as Thornbridge’s stuff usually does. Dark brown pour with good head and lacing. Light bitter finish. Light caramel. Cask at Churchkey.

Clear dark brown color, almost black. Small tan head. Fruity hops, a bit of roastiess. Well balanced, bitter enough but not too much, a bit coffee and orange, some sweetness. Thin to medium body, creamy texture, but lively carbonation was small disappointment. Medium long coffee and hoppy finish. Very interesting, really enjoyed this one.
