Originally released a for the Chesterfield CAMRA festival.
Renamed as Wild Raven in 2013 due to another beer going by the name "Raven" elsewhere
The recipe for the brew came from James Kemp, who joined the team a few months ago. Previously crowned the New Zealand Home Brewing Champion in 2008 and winner of a Liberty Award, Kemp used Maris Otter, Black Patent and Chocolate malt along with Nelson Sauvin, Centennial and Sorachi hops.
The beer, called Raven, has bitterness and hop character and plenty of malt flavours to give it complexity.
James moved on to Buxton brewery and is now a freelance brewer

Raven Black IPA is probably the best IPA that i’ve drank. Malt and hops are in perfect balance in this beer. Taste starts with aseet aroma of dark brown malt and continues to bitter and dry finish. I could drink this all night!

50cl bottle on 29-Oct-2015, poured into a long stemmed tulip glass. Dark brown /black in colour with a tan coloured head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel sweetness and pine. Medium body and carbonation. Flavour heavy on roasted malt, some liqourice and hops. Dry bittersweet finish. Not a bad Black IPA, but there are many better examples out there.

Roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, slight licorice, hops, fruit, grapefruit.

Ruby/dark brown beer with a medium off-white head.

Starts sweet with malts, slightly gets more hoppy towards the end. Ends somewhat like bread.

butelka, warka do 10.09.16.

Bottle from Valhalla's Goat. (£3) A fairly middling black ipa. Nothing spectacular, nice enough. Sl dryness at finish. Alright. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500 ml bottle. Black, with a massive tan head. Citrus-fruity aroma with roasted malt and notes of liquorice. The flavour is roasted malty, with coffee and liquorice notes, and a citrusy-hoppy finish.
