Imperial Russian Stout
Rich and dark with smoke, subtle peatiness and the power of the dark malts. Molasses and liquorice and chocolate goodness all wrapped up in a smooth, warming liquid. Finishes with a distinct humming bitterness carried well by the hop and malt combo.

500ml bottle. Very nice smoky and strong stout. Smooth and full flavoured. A bit pricy though at £4 a bottle.

500 ml bottle. Pours an opaque mahogany with a medium, tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, liquorice, caramel, coffee and prunes. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, liquorice, vanilla, a hint of smoke and a dry, bitter coffee finish. Full body with a creamy, oily texture and soft carbonation.

50cl bottle. Pours black with a thick, frothy beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, some liquor, some dark fruits, light peat and soy sauce notes. Taste has a very good roastiness with bitter coffee, chocolate, some licorice, light smoke/peat again. Nice final bitterness with coffee powder notes. Creamy mouthfeel, low carbonation. Very good.

500 mL bottle. The pour is a dark brown. It's thin with ruby and garnet throughout and a light tan head that fades quickly, leaving just a film. The aroma is dominated by licorice. There is some malt and roast, then it all fades in lieu of a strong spiciness which I'm not too keen on. The flavor is very similar. It starts with heavy licorice and molasses and then rolls through a spicy complexity and finishes with a light roast. The mouth feel is thin and watery, with minimal carbonation. It just remains then and slick. The aftertaste is a little roast, but mostly a bitter spice-coated licorice. Definitely not among some of the good Russians. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark, slightly brown with moderate head, prone to diminishing. Smell of roast coffee, malt, and a hint of hops. Taste is sweet with moderate carbonation and a slight hoppy aftertaste. A very nicely balanced beer specimen.
