Imperial Russian Stout
Rich and dark with smoke, subtle peatiness and the power of the dark malts. Molasses and liquorice and chocolate goodness all wrapped up in a smooth, warming liquid. Finishes with a distinct humming bitterness carried well by the hop and malt combo.

Hmm...I love Thornbridge but not sure this is great. Dark brown and opaque - almost black- with a slight off- white head and good lacing. Get the liquorice and the peat. And the molasses more than the chocolate. Roasted malts could be in there stronger to balance these tastes off.

Pleasantly strong taste, roasted but in balance. Some hints of cream and caramel. Easy to drink, didn’t have the consistency of old motor oil as previously expected. Would drink again if I would find any!

Light imperial stout, very roasty bitter but not very complex. Chocolate, dark malts, coffee beans, licorice, soya sauce. I prefer their golden beers!

Bottle. Black with tan head. In aroma roastiness, dark malts, not very intensive. In taste dark malts, some liquorice, roastiness. Medium bitter finish. Little watery on the mouhfeel, low carbonated. For a RIS it is not enough, for stronger stout - maybe. In overall I’m disappointed.

czar (4152) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 17, 2014
bottle at mondial 2014, mtl. pours unclear light brown with a decent light beige head, good retention and lacing. roastiness and burnt caramel-plenty, bitter coffee, faint chocolate notes, nutty angles, booze, light smoky notes, pepper, hint of brown sugar, dirt, some woodsy and spicy notes. moderate carbonation, light to medium body - oily, creamy yet slightly thin mouthfeel, balanced resinous-bitter coffee finish. not heavy stuff - straightforward but more than fair.

Fyldig lett brent smak med preg av mørk malt, humle, salt sterk lakris, soya, brent kaffi, bitter sjokolade, gras, høy, brent karamell, litt torv, alkohol og askebeger. God bitterhet som set litt.
