Imperial Russian Stout
Rich and dark with smoke, subtle peatiness and the power of the dark malts. Molasses and liquorice and chocolate goodness all wrapped up in a smooth, warming liquid. Finishes with a distinct humming bitterness carried well by the hop and malt combo.

500ml bottle purchased at Knightly Spirits in Orlando, Florida. Near black in colour with a thin but lasting tan head, excellent lacing. Aroma is quite roasty, lots of coffee, dark fruits, some molasses. Flavour is roasty, creamy, some milk chocolate, coffee, light alcohol. Roasty mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, moderately bitter, roasty. Nice stuff. Well balanced and highly drinkable.

£4 bottle from Valhalla's Goat, Glasgow. Lovely aroma with slight peat. This beer can be divided into two. At first there's a fantastic deep delicate sweetness which - and this stops it getting a higher rating - crashes to a unpleasant lingering bitterness. The first part is so good though, it outweighs the second. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a deep brown to black colour with a thick fluffy off white head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, molasses and some dark fruits, liquorice and smoke. Taste of roasted and burnt malt, dark chocolate, liquorice, raisin, nuts, brown sugar and a little smokiness. Full bodied and a slick texture. A warming, chocolatey finish. Smells standard but a full flavoured, warming imperial stout for its ABV. Not bad.

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bride. Extremely dark-red with a slightly off-white creamy head. Strong tasting but with a fairly easy drinking texture with some roasted malt evident in both aroma and taste - but not high on any flavours.
