Imperial Russian Stout
Rich and dark with smoke, subtle peatiness and the power of the dark malts. Molasses and liquorice and chocolate goodness all wrapped up in a smooth, warming liquid. Finishes with a distinct humming bitterness carried well by the hop and malt combo.

UPDATED: MAR 24, 2013 Bottle at Black Door, Helsinki. Pours black with a thick medium sized head that leaves a lot of lacing. Very malty aroma with notes of chocolate, smoke and coffee, also some roasty and nutty notes. Taste is dryish, very roasty and rich. It is both malty and towards the finish also hoppy. Flavours of coffee, dark chocolate, some resin and pine. Palate is full and sticky. Very nice, drinkable Imperial Stout - intense but not as robust as some.

Poured from 500ml bottle at Metro in Lahti Finland. It was good but not great. A bit more bitter after taste than I would like in an Imperial Stout. It finishes like an IPA. which is great but not in this style.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Max’ place. Thanks Excellent Little Brother for the delivery! Black with a white head. Lots of chocolate, some cherry and some vanilla in the nose, mild bitterness, mildly roasty and fully malty taste. A little alcoholic finish, no carbonation, full body.

Very dark, creamy head. Hard roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, rye, dry, pecans. String bitterness, very full flavoured. Loads of roast over a body that is lighter than often in such heavy tasting imperial stouts, but certainly not watery. I like how it’s rich and still quite drinkable, also because of the high carbonation. Excellent brew, great quality. (50cl bottle from Saveur Bière)

At a tasting, thanks, quite stable creamy bubbly brown head, opaque black color, aroma of dark bread, prunes, some smoke and light herbal notes in back, flavor of shrubs, dark chocolate and dark fruits, with some roasted coffee. Fair and drinkable but not really exciting.

Bottle from Beer Central, Sheffield. Pours dark brown/black with half a finger tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, dark fruits, touch of chocolate. Initial roasted malts on the flavour, then chocolate, dark chocolate, coffee, some creaminess too. Great brew!

Deep dark oily colour, aroma of dark chocolate, with little sugar and some liqueur notes. Taste of coffee, a bit too watery like De Molens Mout&mocca. Maybe also despite the relatively low ABV, which is too low for me.

500ml bottle purchased at Knightly Spirits in Orlando, Florida. Near black in colour with a thin but lasting tan head, excellent lacing. Aroma is quite roasty, lots of coffee, dark fruits, some molasses. Flavour is roasty, creamy, some milk chocolate, coffee, light alcohol. Roasty mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, moderately bitter, roasty. Nice stuff. Well balanced and highly drinkable.

Flaska. Svart med ett stort smutsvitt skum. Dofter av citrus, kaffe och rostad malt. Smakinslag av kaffe, lakrits, rostad malt och lingon. Kolsyrig och lätt bubblig munkänsla.

£4 bottle from Valhalla's Goat, Glasgow. Lovely aroma with slight peat. This beer can be divided into two. At first there's a fantastic deep delicate sweetness which - and this stops it getting a higher rating - crashes to a unpleasant lingering bitterness. The first part is so good though, it outweighs the second. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
