Imperial Russian Stout
Rich and dark with smoke, subtle peatiness and the power of the dark malts. Molasses and liquorice and chocolate goodness all wrapped up in a smooth, warming liquid. Finishes with a distinct humming bitterness carried well by the hop and malt combo.

a bit on the thin side, this rather dry imperial russian. Overall a quit bitter, roasty and a smoky affair with a huge deal of coffee and a tad of chocolats, but not that much of the latter. Not too bad, but nothing exceptional either.

Bottle, 500ml. Dark, but not opaque brown with a slight reddish hue and a huge, thick, frothy tan head. Minty, spicy aroma with hints of chocolate and dried fruits. Rich, smooth and creamy with moderate carbonation. Pleasant subtle hoppiness, unusual in this kind of beer. Well balanced, with a deep malty richness and a lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. Quite a strong beer, yet it doesn’t seem so at all. Incredibly smooth and drinkable. Very pleasant, but not the most complex Imperial Stout.

Bottle from Bishops Arms, Helsingborg. Aroma is roasted malts and some licorice. Pours black with a medium white head. Taste has coffee, chocolates and licorice. Palate has a full body yet refreshing. A pleasant beer but far from a blockbuster.

Roasted aroma, coffee and chocolate, pours black with rich head, that stays for a while and leaves nice lacing. Taste is again roasted with a bit of fruity aftertaste. A bit of alcohol note. It lacks a bit of depth in taste - it’s good, but not what I expect from ris. Medium bitterness, slightly sweet. Rather low carbonation. Solid beer, not the worst ris but not the best either.

Almost black looks with smallish head but lots of lacing. Aroma is roasted, chocolate and there is a lot of fruits in there, almost like black IPA. Taste is fruity and quite bitter. There is also roasted malts but ending with bitterness. Medium+ body and medium carbonation. Slightly black IPAish, but enjoyable.

Bottle at Cafe Sara, august 19th 2014. Black body with a tanned head. Roasty aroma with subtle smoke hints, raisins. Taste of coffee, dark chocolate, light hop spicy. Body feels a bit thin, missing a bit stronger finish, still good though and the creamy coffee/choco aftertaste sits well.
