The Thornbridge Sequoia American Amber Ale has beautiful citrus and pine notes that come from our generous additions of Amarillo, Centennial and Chinook hops. It is smooth and velvety in the mouth with the toasted malts giving it a medium body with hints of roasted hazelnut, toffee and caramel malt flavours. Sequoia, a beautiful beer for all occasions!

Fruits, malt, citrus and pine in the aroma. Amber with a off-white head. Medium sweet and medium bitter. Medium body with a average to soft carbonation. Slightly dry and bitter in the finish. Overall a nicely refreshing and bitter Amber Ale, a bit watery, but really good for the ABV.

Pours fairly clear amber with a huge frothy head. The aroma is abundantly fruity with American style fresh fruitiness dominating and some sweetish toasty maltiness appearing in the background, delivers a promising first impression. Taste starts light sweet, later hoppier; though bitterness does not rise too much, as is appropriate for this style. Fruitier notes are checked by toasty, nutty maltiness with a touch of caramel; the end result is balanced. The palate is light to medium bodied, slick and average in carbonation. Solid amber ale, not brutally hoppy or richly malty but these kind of ales rarely are.

Hazy deep amber/orange color, big off white head. Lots of lacing. Aroma is piney with some oranges and tropical fruits. Taste is the same plus citrus, caramel and some spiciness. Light to medium body, lively carbonation. Light sweet, light bitter. Very easy and refreshing. Tasty enough.

Cask The Blacksmith’s Arms, St Albans on 22 Sep 2012. Poured a very lightly hazy copper, with a halo of white head. Slightly astringent aroma, with fruit rind and caramel. Some tart fruit in the flavour, mixed with brown sugar and pine needles. Finish was resin, copper and apples. May well need a re-rate.
