3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 JCB (3862) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - DEC 5, 2012
Cask pump at Cask, Pimlico. Another fine APA variation from these killer British craft brewers. Attractive bright appearance, deep orange-ish gold and firm carbonation. Inviting tropical fruits in the nose, along with some sweet candy malts and hints of dry bitterness. Nice smooth mouthfeel, but nothing too heavy. Bright citrus and mango to taste, but somehow the beer’s very balance - malts to ground things, etc. - tended to get in the way of what for me I wanted to be a straight hop blast.

Cask at Craft Beer Co, Brighton. It pours lightly hazy amber, with a thick bubbly white head. The nose is straw, dough, earth, light spice, sweat, sweet white grape and lychee even. The taste is dough, straw, resin, earth, some spice, good bitter hop bite, citrus pith, grapefruit, soap and sweet white grape, with a long bitter-dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Pretty tasty stuff, but not a stand-out.

Bright golden colour. Very easily drinkable but still flavourful and distinctly hoppy ale. Citrussy and herbal, with a substantial honey-ish maltiness. Delicious.

Cask (handpump) at Cask Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico on 21 April 2012. A new hop for me. Seemed to work pretty well. Plenty of tropical fruit notes. Quite juicy. Tasty but not a particular Thornbridge standout though.

Cask @ CPK. Pours a deep golden color with a creamy white head. Attractive. The nose is light spruce, some sugary crunchy nut breakfast cereal, mild citrus. The taste is orange peel, honey, grassy hop bitterness. Assertive sweet malt backbone. A bit syrupy. Light body. Overall, quite nice. Would love to try this on keg!

Cask@The Cock Tavern, London. Amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is fruity, caramelly, bready and mild herbal notes. Flavour is nectar, caramel, fruits, some toffee and mild earthyness. Pleasantly balanced and quite floral and sweet notes in the aftertaste.

Woody, milky nose. Somewhat murky flavors, lightly bready and toasty. Thin body. Something definitely not to my liking. (cask at Craft Beer Co., June 2012)

Cask conditioned handpump Fat Cat Sheffield 21/06/12. A darkish gold coloued beer with a white head. Sharp tropical fruits in the nose and mouth, particularly so in the aroma. A bit of a meaty flavour which others seem to have spotted as well. Quite chinook like in my opinion. Not really my type of hop.
