Tap. Pale yellow color. No head. Diacetyl, malty, sour notes in aroma. Not the aroma I like. Mellow, sweet, touch of minerals in taste. Watery palate. Of course I’m not used to with kölch, but maybe....

Tap at Pudel, Tallinn. Pours clear golden with small head. The head doesn’t stay. Aroma is weak grains, malt, and some hops. Flavor is very sweet, malt, slight fruity notes. Finish is malt with some bitterness. Carbonation is high. Overall: ok lager, but nothing special.

Tap (Pudel, Tallinn)
Pale gold, brief head. Simple sweet lagery aroma. Clean and crisp palate. Light, simple pale malts. Sweetish, a little bit herbal, pleasant bitterness from hops. Lagery, but pleasant. A bit sticky in the palate.

Bottle: Pale golden, a bit hazy, small but stable lacy white head; dryish grainy and slightly lemony nose, presumably faint traces of yeast underneath; mild to moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied with a slight tartness; mild lemony-hoppy finish with dry grainy traces. Fresh english summer beer, nearly better than most of the bland Cologne samples…

Alengrin (2110) - BELGIUM - SEP 9, 2014
Probably the only English Kölsch but labelled as "Köln style beer" to get around the protected name "Kölsch" which is limited to the Cologne area in Germany. Snow white head, deep golden blonde colour. Subtle grainy aroma with some unripe fruits and floral and grassy hops. Restrained, dry fruitiness in the mouth, soft, grainy, with lightly hop bitterish finish. Has the subtlety and delicacy of the best of Germany’s original examples.

On tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Crystal clear gold pour with lacy white head. Aroma is grainy, nice and clean, ever so slight fruity notes, very light grassy hop, pretty authentic actually much more so than I expected. Taste is grainy, lemony, pretty legit, if a bit overhopped (more perceptible here than the aroma). Palate is light, well carbed and dry. Nice refreshing beer.

Bottle. Golden, small to average and fully diminishing head. Light to moderate malty and lightly sweetish aroma, faint fruitiness and light citrus - grassy hoppyness. Body is light to medium, malty and lightly sweetish flavor, light fruitiness and grassy hoppyness. Finish is short to average, malty and dryish, light grassy hoppyness. OK, dryish kölsch. Bit thin though.

Draft - Earthy and grassy hops. Clear gold with a nice white head. Sweet pale malts. Not much going on here, another slightly hoppy blonde.
