(Keg at Hilpeä Hauki, 20160627) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, liquorice, smoke and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, burnt malts, liquorice, dark chocolate, pine and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt, hoppy and bitter. A pleasant roasty and hoppy brew.

Keg at Tilt, Birmingham. Black with cream head. Drying, chalky, dark roasted malts, bitter then with a fruity, hoppy flavour, tropical then grapefruit zestiness. Very decent beer.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Keg (One Pint Pub, Helsinki)
Some sniffs give me mint, but others give me pine. Beautiful pour, black, and crowned with an awesome tight persistent head. Taste is roasty, yes, and spicily hopped, indeed, but the whole thing doesn’t reach better than just good. Good good, not kinda-good good. Finish has piney hops again, a bit sappy. Is more a dark hoppy beer than a hoppy dark beer, but to be honest this has hit the middle ground very well. Feels serious, but not actually boozy. 3.6 seems like an over-rate, but this is damn damn tasty.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap@1pp. Black. Roasty nose, dark licorice some woody ashyness, roasted barley, slight pines. Med bodied, well bittered, bit ashy bitter finish. Feels like it should feel harsh, but sorta dont. Ashy, not terribly acrid tho. Kinda ok.
