Alengrin (1716) - BELGIUM - SEP 10, 2014
English interpretation of Hefeweizen (label says "Weisse beer") with thick, fluffy, off-white head and hazy golden blonde colour. Yeasty aroma, banana, apple, thyme; fruity and wheaty taste, some banana and apple but in a restrained kind of way, sourish but otherwise rather neutral, with some grassy hops in the finish. Not quite there yet, even when compared with the big German Hefeweizen brands - too low profile for me. I prefer my Hefeweizens opulent, rich, seductive and mouth-filling and this one is just a bit beneath all that.

On tap at Schouskjelleren. An unclear, golden beer topped by a small, off-white head. The aroma has citrus peel, pale malts and some grassy notes. It’s lightly sour and bitter on the palate, with butterscotch notes, citrus, grass and pale malts. Medium body, quite dry, and with a decent carbonation. A rather boring one, but sure drinkable. 140501

Draught @ Schouskjelleren Mikrobryggeri, Oslo
Pours slightly hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, wheat, banana, yeast and clove. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long wheat and banana finish. Body is light to medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle at home. Murky gold, white head. A soft weiss, mellow on flavour and aroma but it shouldn’t have to smell like a tarts handbag. Pretty damn drinkable, a decent wheat beer for me.

Countbeer (4423) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - APR 18, 2014
Bottle: Served in a Shaker: Medium sized creamy snowy white foamy head on top of a cloudy orange colored beer. Aromas of fruit, wheat, dust, marzipan, some malts and herbs. Flavours of wheat, marzipan, bitters, herbs, yeast, some fruits, some honey, some malts and some sweet tones that are balanced well with the rest. Aftertaste is a mix of wheat, herbs, bitters, some yeast and malts. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied and a creamy texture.
