A Mes rate. Keg at the Craft.
This is bloody excellent. It really is. A thoroughly authentic German Weiss all round but with a really enjoyable English twist. Hints of Saison yeasty character with a lick of elderflower sit on top of the expected chewy esters but again there’s something just that little bit different. I know this is a keg serving but it has something distinctly cask-like about it. Hard to put a finger on but it’s a kind of dusty chalky almost mineral feel that real ale drinkers know so well. The expected lick of delicate sourness in the finish rounds things off beautifully well and only serves to enhance the blend of traditional and new world thinking. I’ve enjoyed this so much I think I’ll have another. Best Thornbridge I’ve had a long while. Dom? What does he know eh?

:)

Love it.

Bottle from Nina’s. Pours a hazy golden amber colour with a white head that dies away. Turbulent CO2 bubbles and a bit excitable to open. Aroma is banana straight up with wheat and caramel also. Big banana flavour also with a little nutmeg, caramel, alcohol and a fairly bitter finish. A nice chewy mouth-feel also.

50 cl. bottle sampled @ RBWG 2012 – thx to Bart– hazy golden wheat with a white head – smell is sweet wheat, clove & citrus – taste is much sweeter than you would expect a hefe to be, sweet wheat, sugar, cloves, thick yeast, citrus, more citrus than banana, slightly tart – nice wheat body – not good by hefe guidelines but I did like but I was in a minority

On tap- a proper summer beer, loads of taste, bit cloudy, nice beige head. Loads of fruit in the nose and taste, with the chilled condition taking very little from it. A good one.

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2012 A lively, orange beer, that partly runs into the table, at a glass medium, blond head was builded up. Aroma is sour, wheat and lemon, refreshning aroma. Taste of wheat, some bananas, that is more dominant in the aftertaste, some spices. Medium bodied, lots of carbonation, that is nicely smooth, nice to drink. Fresh, tastefull, sour -style hefe, highly enjoyable.

Keg at the Euston Tap. Cloudy gold with a creamy, white cap. Has a lovely yeast nose with hints of honey, clove and banana. Medium sweet flavor, a bit doughy, nice yeast notes, some ripe banana. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Refreshing on the finish, more dough and yeast, some bubblegum. A nice representation on the style.
