COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask and bottles; semi-regular.
Originally released a for the Chesterfield CAMRA festival.
Renamed as Wild Raven in 2013 due to another beer going by the name "Raven" elsewhere
The recipe for the brew came from James Kemp, who joined the team a few months ago. Previously crowned the New Zealand Home Brewing Champion in 2008 and winner of a Liberty Award, Kemp used Maris Otter, Black Patent and Chocolate malt along with Nelson Sauvin, Centennial and Sorachi hops.
The beer, called Raven, has bitterness and hop character and plenty of malt flavours to give it complexity.
James moved on to Buxton brewery and is now a freelance brewer

500ml Bottle at Home. Thornbridge never disappoint. Pours a dark chestnut brown almost black, with a lace tan head. Immediate Pine aroma, strong IPA on the nostril, Hoppy chocolate and table fruit flavour, excellent stuff.

Bottle. Black beer, light brown head. Delicious aroma of fruity hops and roasted malt. Soft crispy taste of grape, pineapple, bitter hop, cacao and some slight licorice. Long aftertaste, with a combination of bitter and sweet. Very good.

Draught at Against the Grain, Dublin. Dark brown with red-amber tints, a nice tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, toasted malt, peach and grapefruit hoppy notes, and a nutty character. The flavour is roasted to burnt malt, with some juicy hop character, and a nutty and bitter final. Dry and fairly light palate with a lively carbonation.

Complex and malty aroma. Reddish black in colour. Good and hoppy but not excessively so.

Bonne odeur de houblon et fruité. Bière légère mais avec beaucoup de goûts différents. Petite déception au niveau du palais, avec peu de gaz .Très bonne bière dans l’ensemble.

Nice fruity aroma. Complex flavour. Roasted malt with a hint of liquorice. Impressive taste for a lighter beer.

33cl @ tap. Buona ma non mi ha convinto appieno. Prima black ipa che provo e non ho notato grandi differenze rispetto ad una stout qualsiasi. Solito problema del troppo amaro, per me.
