COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask and bottles; semi-regular.
Originally released a for the Chesterfield CAMRA festival.
Renamed as Wild Raven in 2013 due to another beer going by the name "Raven" elsewhere
The recipe for the brew came from James Kemp, who joined the team a few months ago. Previously crowned the New Zealand Home Brewing Champion in 2008 and winner of a Liberty Award, Kemp used Maris Otter, Black Patent and Chocolate malt along with Nelson Sauvin, Centennial and Sorachi hops.
The beer, called Raven, has bitterness and hop character and plenty of malt flavours to give it complexity.
James moved on to Buxton brewery and is now a freelance brewer

Pours black with low head Loads of fresh tropical hops. Caramel malts A bit thin palate. However round sweet and quite nice. Low bitterness low carbonation. Doesn’t have that ooompf that I want in a Black IPA.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2013 On tap at Local Option. Pours a clear dark brown with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of earthy pine and dark grains with a nice backing roasted malt note. Flavor has a nice creamy roasted malt note with nice earthy pine and grass note.

Bottle from systembolaget. It poured an almost pitch black liquid with a tint of ruby. Chocolaty malty with a mixed hop aroma of grass, fruit, grapefruit and pine. Nice combination between the dark malts and the hops. Very nice.

Bottle, pours dark brown/copper with medium tan head. Aroma is pine, grass, some citrus, some malts and some strange metallic notes aswell as strange notes of something like overripe bananas, almost rotten. Taste is fruits, pine, dill, coffee and some breadyness. The strange notes of the aroma is not as big in the taste. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness, medium sweetness. Overall an ok beer,

gyllenbock (5013) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 12, 2012
Bottle. Almost black with a large, creamy head. Aroma of hops, grass, some chocolate and light notes of strawberry jam. The taste was soft and relaxed. A very drinkable Black Ipa this one. Not as bitter as many others in the style.
