Raven Black IPA is probably the best IPA that i’ve drank. Malt and hops are in perfect balance in this beer. Taste starts with aseet aroma of dark brown malt and continues to bitter and dry finish. I could drink this all night!

Sempre m’han agradat les negres. Varies gustos, sabors i aromes però sempre negres. Regalesia i chocolata a l’aroma, afegeixi petits tocs de café i caramel en boca i petita peró llarga amargor floral a paladar. Busques una black ipa? Bona elecció

Keg @ Euston Tap. Dark, almost black, with a large perfect creamy head. Grassy hop aroma with a hint of dark malt. Bitterness pervades the taste, but there is enough sweetness to refresh. Finish is quite bitter. Intensely enjoyable paradigm of the style.

Provatela.

Bottle @Pudel, Tallinn
Dark brown color, steady beige head, lace. Light toast, hoppyness and grass in the nose. Medium-bodied. Grassy, hayish hoppyness, toastyness, touch of licorice and caramel. World class black IPA.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Reddish dark brown, almost black, nice blonde head. Aroma has grapefruity fresh hops and licorice. Flavor is licoricy, grapefruity hoppy and bitter. Quite long and bitter finish. Medium full slick palate. Really hoppy fresh beer, doesn’t seem like a dark beer at all. Nice!

Very dark brown colour with an off white head. Quite hoppy aroma with pine, herbal notes, tobacco. Incredible, medium, slick, perfectly carbonated palate. Very bitter, dry flavour with heavy pine and mint notes, with an underlying malty note with licorice. Really nice.

Thornbridge Wild Raven.
Pours with a nice dark brown, almost black color, and a decent beige head.
The strong aroma my nose picked up were roasted malts with some coffee as well.
The taste was likewise roasted plus some coffee. The bitterness was very strong, much too strong for my liking.
Overall, this beer was too heavy, too strong and too bitter. Not really good IMO.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500mL bottle. Pours pitch black with a big dense off white head that last and lasts. Light sweet chocolate and citrus fruit on the nose with a massive complex flavour, burnt toffee, chocolate, stone fruit to name a few. Very nice beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml bottle from Abbot’s Ale House, enjoyed with friends. Pours a burnt black with a tan head. Looks lovely and appetising. Aroma is huge, with lots of toast, cocoa, a hint of coffee, and lovely pine resin hop notes. Really enticing. Taste doesn’t dissapoint with a really spot on black IPA balance between the roasted malty nature of it and the bright fruity and floral hops. The finish is quite dry and bitter, but again in a quite citric and fruity way. Very pleasant. A nice full beer, in aroma, flavour and mouthfeel. Can’t wait to drink it again.
