MrRomero (1872), Wiesbaden-Biebrich, Germany Jun 1, 2007 33cl bottle courtesy of Stefaan: poured golden yellow into my Gouden Carolus glass. Very little head but what was there subsided quickly. Mainly hops in the aroma with a touch of fruit, yeast, and grain. Slight banana in the flavor with moderate hoppiness and a touch of bubblegum. Hard to believe this is 8.5%. Mild sweetness on the palate followed by a slight bitterness. This beer is clean and easy drinking. diabel (1188), Aarschot, Belgium Feb 8, 2005 Bottle Creamy, white head. Hazy, yellow body. Nose of hops: flowers, grss, hints of citrus. Moderately sweet, lightly bitter initial flavour. Moderately bitter, moderately sweet finish. JorisPPattyn (4246), Antwerpen, Belgium Feb 5, 2003 Thouroutenaere is probably the same as Hapkin. Webbs' GBG calls it an organic version. Highly unlikely - this would be mentionned on the label. With the closing of Louwaege imminent, this beer is supposedly still brewed in Kortemark (BBd: 11/03)
Pale golden with greenish shine (Chablislike). Very thick, white head, big bubbles. Nose is yeasty, banana, honey-ish, edicinal.
taste is very dry, then a sweetness develops, slightly spicey, a bit fruity. Mouthfeel characterised by the dryness, nearly dusty. A bit af adstringency even develops. Alcohol. Aftertaste is bitterness becoming pronounced - in a very dry way. Intersting, complicated 'taste-traject'. SteC (128), Oostende, Belgium Jul 15, 2002 I liked this one, tasts like something between Duvel and the average white beer, some hints of honey, but also bitter.
