3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Wombata (210) - Kobe, JAPAN - APR 12, 2012
On Draft.
Aroma: Good nose. Earthy and floral hop.
Palate: Surprisingly soft and round for an IPA.
Flavor: More like an amber ale; really not very bitter for an IPA.
Comments: Definitely not like a US West Coast IPA. It’s pretty good, particularly the aroma which is its strength.

Served a bit too cold, smallish, off white, foamy, frothy, head that shortly settled down, & sum lace. Color is clear amber w/ sum lg bubble trails. Aroma is hop malt caramel. Flavor is similar to nose w/ prominent burnt sugar & APA style hop w/ good acid. Body carbonation good. Finish is similar to flvr, avg length, very easy drinking.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 gnat2006 (12) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 15, 2011
On tap at Pomeroy’s. Aroma is subtle, almost no hops. Flavour of moderate bitterness and almost no hops. I expected more from this beer, perhaps too light on the hops for a fully-fledged IPA, but I was enjoying it nonetheless until I had a taste of my drinking mates ‘Mash Up’, which kind of blew my taste buds to pieces. Overall the beer was too light and too thin for my taste.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 beer4eternity (199) - Tauranga, NEW ZEALAND - SEP 25, 2011
500ml bottle. Aroma: embarrassed to say that very first impression is that it smells like Steinlager (but costs four times as much), after tasting there is more to enjoy about it - malt syrup I had as a child, toffee, band aid (I cant explain why that is a pleasant aroma to me, it just is), dough yeast, dry grass, delicate almost mouldy tangerine, pine. Appearance: nice clear warm amber hue with large off-white fluffy sea-foam diminishing head and foamy lacing. Taste: mild sweetness which is quickly overtaken by moderate bitterness with a long duration, a touch of sourness. Palate: light medium body, smooth lightly creamy texture, tingly carbonation, long dry slightly astringent finish. Overall: nice enough, the "generous addition of hops" as described on the label must have been left out of batch 1243 :). Different to most IPA’s I have had.

On tap at Tap Haus. Nice golden amber pour with a small white head. Typical pine and citrus nose. Toffee malts and pine and citrus hops. Slight grapefruit coming through. Good beer
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jimthechap (779) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - JUN 18, 2011
Clear reddish-copper tinge underneath a soft white head that is taking its time to ebb away leaving good lace. It smells fresh and citrusy tangerine and lemon with grassy notes. For all the good in the aroma, there just isn’t an enormous amount of it. IPA’s these days seem to be full, grassy alcoholic monsters. This seems more like British IPA’s that I have had. Ones that rely more on their flavour to do the talking for them. So let’s see:
The first impression is fluffy carbonation and tangelos. The citrus endures and takes a tangy bitterness with it to the sides of the tongue. There’s nothing wrong with this beer and I’ve had the odd session with this taking a starring role. The question is whether it stands up to the scrutiny of style guidelines in an age where sticking IPA on your bottle mean s sticking two fingers up at authority in general.
I’m voting with my mouth. This is very nice beer.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 mkel07 (1797) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - JAN 29, 2011
500ml bottle. Deep golden honey colour with a massive cloud of sand coloured foam that hangs around and looks impressive. Hops in the nose , floral and pleasantly enticing. Strong flavour that sits well in the mouth and finishes well also. The perferfect beer to sits and ponder as the world passes by.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 bmeup (418) - Ormeau, AUSTRALIA - JAN 4, 2011
Hazy amber with a puffy head. Grainy caramel then fruity hop aroma. Sweetish at first then some harsh bitterness, quite carbonated and thin. Mild bitter and spicey finish. Not a stand out IPA
