Stew41 (883), Caulfield, Australia Oct 31, 2007 Pure white fizzy head and bog standard dark amber gold in colour. Perhaps a touch light, in appearance, in the context of typical IPA. Fruity nose very early before a firm edge kicks in. Broad, balanced palate. Fruit lurks all the way through but its mostly a story of what I call old fashioned hop flavour. Really daggy, kinda like what you might see in a traditional pilsner from Eastern Europe.
Very text book in style but done very well. sunevdj (1482), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Feb 22, 2008 Bottled. Pours a clear amber with a white head. Sweet with a ligh bitternes. Mellow straw-like malt aromas. Stron and very tropical fruity hops noes, especially grape fruit an pineaple. Also a floral touch.Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Dry pine apple finish. yalnikim (666), Wellington, New Zealand Jun 22, 2006 Tasted 22/06/2006. 500ml bottle from RW&S, Wellington.
Pale to mid-gold with a slight rose tint; pretty much bright; a white head that fades and laces slightly; low carbonation. Pale malt, honey, lemon herbs and over-ripe strawberry on the nose. Good malt/hop balance up front, and through the middle, with a hints of honey, sulpherous yeast and bitter grapefruit. Long bitter finish, which descends, just slightly, into an herbal astringency. Good medium weight and low carbonation. Another very impressive brew from a brewery that is definitely one to watch out for. TheGrandMaster (1495), Auckland, New Zealand Jun 26, 2008 Draught at The Malthouse (in Wellington), amber with a filmy head. A apricot fruit aroma, slightly ashen. A strongly hoppy palate, with a spritzy mouthfeel. The malt is slightly buttery, but the hops provide a tangy floral finish. beer_ledgend (807), Meadowbank Auckland, New Zealand Sep 18, 2006 Clear amber in colour with thick white creamy head. Mild floral hop aroma hint of malty biscuit. Dry hop flavour with mild bitterness. probably best of Three boys range.
