An excellent example of the fruit - beer style. Enticing initial flavour leads into a spectacularly deliciously tart aftertaste. I’m needing another one of these...

(Bottle) Below average beer. Darkish gold with white head that dissapears pretty quck. Aroma i slittle bitter and unripe fruit like. The taste is unplesantly sour with very slight bitter undertones that comes out little more in the end. Finish is mixture of sourly bitter. Medium body, high carbonation. Pretty unbalanced with much more unripe like mirabelle than wild ones or plums...

Bottled. New Zealand holiday 2011-12. Old notes. The aroma has cherries, bubblegum. Clear, golden-copper coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is sweet, has sugary maltiness, plums, marzipan, raspberries. Tart and wild.

Nice plum flavour, which is not there on the nose. There’s very little I can tell about the aroma. The flavours of course included a bit of plum, but it was mainly tart berries, like cherries and cranberries. I’d like it sweeter, but I must confess it had a great balance between sweetness and tart/bitterness. I love the presentation with the plum wrapping. .

I though that this was little tart and underdone on the plum aroma. Also though there was a roughness in the taste profile, and it wasn’t sweet by just a skerrick. However, on a summer evening with some Nick Cave playing and I can find a reason not to be enjoying this as beer.

Many thanks to FletchFighters for tracking down this one for me. Pours a deep golden bronze with slight hazing. Very thin rocky white head that disappears super quickly. Aromas are very sweet with floral honey and light caramel. Feint earthy fruitness which I assume to be the fruit coming through. Flavours are initial quite sweet. Some light sourness to support. Thinnish mouthfeel.

Not a big fan of plums, so it is lucky that this beer does not scream PLUMS on the nose of the palate. A little dry which surprised me as I was expecting something sweet.

light amber, flowery, perfume, plums. Slightly sweet, slightly tart, not the most balanced, but enjoyable. Had potential to be great.

Bottle. Not sure I have had a plum beer before. Not as strong fruit flavour and aroma as I would expect. Comes off kind of muddled. More fruit skin than meat.

Tap at Galbraith’s Sep ’11. Clear gold pour with a short white head leaving minimal lace. Plum nose. Mouth feel is pleasant, with a medium body and moderate to light carbonation. Tart - a fruit-like tartness and not a fermentation choice - lightly citrus and bitter hops, sweet plum and toast. Finish is short, tart and lightly sweet. A bit different from other fruit beers and actually quite drinkable. I had more than one pint of this on at least one occasion.
