Irish Dark is a dark horse indeed. Light in body but strong in alcohol, it’s got a kick like a mule. Yet Irish Dark positively strokes the palate as it goes down, with it’s mild, clean and crisp delicateness. For good measure, a liberal use of hops lightens as well as heightens the feeling in your mouth. The luck of the Irish Dark indeed.

Bottle at Colombo Hilton. Pours a dark amber with a thick white head. A slightly dry malty flavor and slightly dry finish. At 7.5%, a reasonable Irish Ale.

Bottle served extra cold. Pours amber. Very thin body, decent aroma. An oddity, but nice for a change in Sri Lanka.

Sweet, light toffee, molasses, sweetness and some sugary notes in the aroma. flavour is sweet, fruity, light herbal and has a light sugary and chocolaty touch. Medium bodied. Quite dry. Ends on a sweet note with a vague touch off bitterness. Some alcoholwarmth notable on palate. Decent brew.

This was described by the guy at the shop as having "loads of complexity." Hmmm... not sure I agree. Awesome looking beer - clear deep red colour with thick fluffy head. Aroma is nice enough - toast, molasses, diacetyl, peanut butter and cooking spaghetti. However, it tastes really thin and watery, despite its 7.5% alcoholic content. Really lacks malt flavour and has a mildly roasty, bitter and alcoholic finish. Not really sure I understand the point of this beer.

This has a good coppery colour in the glass with a thin but lasting creamy head. It has an aroma of chocolate coated sultanas with a good malty note. The deScription on the bottle states that it is light in body but strong in alcohol. I agree wholeheartedly and believe this has been achieved with some skill. The flavour is sweet and there is a back palate of tobacco. Boy, looks like I am against the grain somewhat because I like this one.

pretty mild stuff, light choc mint aroma. pretty smooth, a little stale. not much to balance the caramel sweetness. dunno about it having a kick like a mule, maybe like a dead mule
