Very dark. Strong coffee aroma. Lots of roasted chocolate. Its a solid porter. Good example of a chocolate porter.

On tap at the brewpub in Sisters. Opaque black-brown with a semi-durable tan head that leaves a few streaks of sticky lacing. Aroma: Dark and very dark roasted malts with hints of cocoa nibs and toffeand floral hops. Some citrus too. Flavor: Medium strong dark roasted malt flavor; minimal burnt or char elements. Slight more bitter than sweet. Feel: Light-Medium body is a bit watery. Decent low carbonation.

Draft at thirsty lion in OR. Dark brown with full head. Warm. Smooth roast malt, smooth texture. Creamy also. Slight cocoa and roasted malt taste. Not bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2/13/2014. On tap. Poured dark brown with a tan head. Chocolate, malt and dark fruit aromas. A bit thin mouth feel, but not bad at all. Nice chocolate malt flavors with a light bitter finish.

on tap at the brewery Nice coffee brown, opaque with only a rim of tan foam. Smells of roasted and toasted malts, chocolate a bit of coffee and some sweet prunes. Flavor is robust with toasted malts, some cocoa, some sweetness, and a touch of soil. A little thin for the style with low carb and a nice only slightly dry finish. Nice beer.

Tap at Three Creeks. Pours a low haze deep red with tan foam. Nose is mild chocolate, fairly roasty. Taste is ashy, bitter soil. Papery, dry palate. Not so bad.

Serving: from bottle--purchased at Made in Oregon. Aroma: light chocolate malt. Appearance: average-sized, creamy, light-brown, initial head with fair lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Dark reddish-brown body. Taste: moderate roasted malt initial flavor and lightly acidic finish with long duration. Palate: medium body with watery texture and lively carbonation. Overall: this is an outstanding porter. Great flavor and not overly acidic.

maekchu (2160) - Hirakata, JAPAN - AUG 14, 2013
Draft at the brewery in Sisters, OR as "Fivepine Chocolate Porter." Moderate chocolate nose. Very dark brown, thin head. Mild chocolate initial / goes a bit simple in mid, like a dull cup of cocoa / light finish. Medium body. Contains Belgian chocolate. Overall, though, it’s a bit flat and uninteresting. Okay.

A very tasty Chocolate Porter, though the chocolate flavor does not overpower at all. Very good.
