3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 bhensonb (9093) - Woodland, California, USA - OCT 7, 2012Bomber from Made in Oregon. Pours clear dark copper with a 3 finger frothy beige head. Firm aroma of pine. Med body. Very hoppy. Lots of pine with a little citrus and arguably floral. Even a bit earthy. There’s a pretty strong roast malt backbone, but the hops rule. This is really bitter and flavorful. Highly recommended.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 stchloe (691) - Portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 19, 2012
Yay for more breweries in Sisters. Malty body with resinous hops almost creamy character to the beer.
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 BK7 (558) - Turner, Oregon, USA - JUN 28, 2012
Bomber. Citrus with a heavy malty sweetness in the background. A bit thin. Solid IPA finish.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 StinkBall (157) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - JUN 18, 2012
Not hoppy enough for me to consider this a true IPA. Very weak and watered down. Drinkable but not a good IPA. Barely a Pale Ale in my opinion. Too watery
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Ferris (564) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 31, 2012
Draft - Aromatic hops, mixture of pine and citrus. Dark clear orange with a good persistent head. The taste is a full forwad hop with an increadible sweetness, almost like cotton candy. I think this is likely from the malts and I wouldn’t mind so much but the bitterness off balances the beer.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 raphael (762) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 17, 2012
Mix of citrus & pine, with caramel & brown sugar/ good carbonation and mouth feel at the pub.Citrus dominates the hops, and the malt background is soft--not outof balance but a little disconnected.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 GAManiac (1944) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JAN 15, 2012
Thanks to Greg for this bomber.
The pour is dark for an IPA, cloudy amber with a thin creamy head.
Aroma is sweeter than I was expecting, especially for a Pac NW IPA, lots of caramel malts and and even some sugary sweetness. The hops are mostly floral with some lemongrass though there is a light citrus note.
Taste is extremely sweet as well. There is a hit of citrus up front, lemon zest especially, before the caramel malts come through. The finish shows some evergreen notes with a lightly astringent bitterness in the finish.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with strong carbonation.
This is a very drinkable IPA that is certainly less hop-forward than most Oregon/West Coast versions of the style.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 troopie (2021) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - SEP 6, 2011
Bottle. Pours cloudy orange with medium white head. Hoppy aroma floral with a note of lemon. Big hop flavour, Something seemed a little off in the finish.
2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 womencantsail (7104) - Garbage Grove, California, USA - SEP 3, 2011
A: The pour is a dark orange/amber color with a finger of white head.
S: This thing is damn sweet. Toffee, caramel, and brown sugar are all prominent aromas. There’s a bit of floral hops and perhaps some citrus peel. A little bit of bread as well.
T: The flavor isn’t quite as sweet, thankfully. Citrus peel and pine hop flavors with a touch of bitterness. There is still a fair amount of toffee and caramel with some toasted bread.
M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation.
O: Not sure what it is with all these PNW IPAs, but they’ve been just mediocre at best.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 19Ei8hty (1083) - Washington, USA - AUG 15, 2011
Grainy malt character that is sweet with caramel notes. Cruiser-weight hop presence that lands decent shots with perky tangerine and sharp peppery lemongrass. Moderate pine that is smoothed out on the finish dy the rather silken body. Traditional PNW IPA done well.
