Now this is a saison! This refreshing Belgian-style ale is the combined effort of Three Floyds and De Molen’s fantastic brewer Menno (the real Dutch Hercules). This spicy and bracing ale was brewed in Munster, but look out for the one we brew in Holland at DeMolen. Cheers and drost!

650 ml bottle @ PBF 2013.
Pours a cloudy copper amber colour with a white head. Aroma of sweet orange, grapefruit, yeast and some lemon juice. Flavour of strong floral hops, sweet caramel, strong grapefruit, lemon juice, pungent citrus, herbs and hay. Medium bodied, thick mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Good stuff.

Bomber to taster (thanks jmborggren). Looks good; a hazy orange with off-white head. Smells and tastes spicy and zippy with a pleasant, dry mouthfeel. Nice.

Bomber bottle and served in an Unibroue tulip: Pours a deep golden honey hue with an initial huge head which left very good lace upon the glassware The aroma as notes of biscuit, pils, honey, aromatic and crystal mats along with grains of paradise and oregano spice vapours, light to moderate grassy and citric hop esters. The taste is similar to the nose, malty yet not sweet with a noticeable spicy midesection and finish embraced by even handed bitterness, ever present citric notes lets you know this is not an olde word Saison. My only real complaint is the noticeable presence of alcohol which reduces the refreshment factor often found in the genre. Lively crisp and biting mouthfeel, yeah it is a Floyds take on Saison. I would drink this again.

22 oz bottle from the brewpub (Munster, IN). Capping off my weekend entirely filled with wedding stuff on the couch. Pours a rich amber orange hue, bigger haziness and darkness in the body. Growing glow on the edges of orange and gold, big cakey offwhite head sits atop, big cakey head sticks around well and laces pretty good. A darkness to the middle with inviting edges and bottom glow. Aromas are touches of straw and bready malts, pale with mellow touches of fruit. Apple, pear, bit of lemon and grass with a growing dry hoppiness. Touches of spice and yeast, dryness, and gentle sweetness, some American citrusy hops jump in at times. Mellow sweetness, a touch of melon. Gumball, and gentle grapefruit kiss. Initial jumps a bit more flavorwise than the nose let on, preaching citrus and fruit, melon and touches of tropical elements, oranges and grapefruit. Florals and bready malts, straw, and grass mix well with a growing fruity complex hop and fruity profile overall. Melon, citrus, not bracingly bitter but quite flavorful up front and into the middle. Some more bready and cereal elements into the backend, dry grass, gentle smooth crisp malts, fruit, and bitterness. Fairly clean, quite drinkable even at it’s ABV. I quite enjoyed this. The nose was more subtle overall but the flavors and palate experience, synergy really work for me. Crisp and cleaner finish without that spice or yeasty dominance is another thing that works for my personal tastes quite well. Looks quite good with a head that just looks like a photograph. Bitterness grows as we get further in. Just a really nice beer.

22oz bottle pours a slightly hazy orange with some clumpy white head. Nose is bright orange peel, some soap, ladies deodorant, herbal. Flavor has a lot of orange pulp, some malt, some flower petals, herbal, radicchio, some lemoncello. Medium, dry, herbal finish. Kinda weird.

Bottle bought in Copenhagen 2013. Hazy orange with a small head. Sweet with dried fruit, orange, light spices and malt. Not bad but maybe a bit old?
