4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 ounce bottle into signature tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy orange amber color with a 2 finger dense fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Some nice foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of big orange zest, orange rind, pineapple, pear, apple, floral, grass, clove, pepper, and earthy yeast esters. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malty hoppiness and yeast spiciness. Taste of orange zest, orange rind, pineapple, clove, pepper, pear, apple, lemon zest, floral, grass, herbal, and earthy yeast spiciness. Good amount of earthy spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus rind, pineapple, clove, pepper, pear, apple, herbal, floral, grass, and earthy yeast spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice flavor complexity and balance of hoppy flavors/spicy yeast esters; with zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a slick and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice hoppy saison! Very nice balance and complexity of hoppy flavors and yeast spiciness; and extremely smooth to sip on. This was a very enjoyable offering.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle picked up in WIcker Park. Pours a hazed pale gold with a big, fluffy offwhite head. Nose is somewhat subdued, herbal hops, faint white pepper, restrained yeast. Resin and pilsner malt. On tasting, some light vanilla and medium bitterness. Clean overall. Malt forward with a hint more of fruit. Faint pepper again. Nice enough beer but not a particularly wonderful saison.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, courtesy of allesmetkaas, @Dean Sticky Floor Tasting 2. Pours a clear golden beer with a small white head on top. Aroma is funky, yeasty, bit disappointing aroma actually. Wel balanced flavor, but not much going on really. Just a standard, saison beer. Good beer, but I did expect a whole lot more from two of the Worlds best brewers..

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz bottle from Binny’s Lakeview. Pours a cloudy, orange-gold colored body with a finger-width, dense, frothy and creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is pretty fruity up front with lots of tangerines and orange florals as well as a bit of a candied pineapple and grapefruit. Bready pale malts with a light sweetness, some straw, and just a touch of spicing. Flavor is similar. Creamy tangerines and oranges up front with candied pineapples and grapefruits. A light yeasty spicing with a bready, medium sweet malt backing. Sweeter resins, florals, and pines grow a bit towards the end as well as some yeasty spice before this finishes a bit sweet and really fruity with a light spicing and a dry, moderate bitterness. Lengthy aftertaste following a creamy, medium-full body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, this was pretty enjoyable, but definitely didn’t drink like a saison. Lots of fruity, somewhat candied citrus hops, a light yeasty spice, and a sweet bready malt backing. Pretty hefty when it comes to the ABV%, but no hint of alcohol. I’m not the biggest fan of this, but it definitely has a FFF stamp on it when it comes to the hopping.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
650 ml bottle
I was not sure how to approach a saison from Three Floyd’s. My memory of Rabid Rabbit still lingers as a bit of a mess. Obviously this recipe worked out much better. If bottles make it to the central part of the state I may have to grab another one.
Aroma / Appearance - The hazy orange base looks like orange marmalade. An ivory head rests on top timidly. Sweet apples, pears, and yeast stick out though lacking is that trademark over the top hops profile. Instead this one is more subdued though still evident.
Flavor / Palate - Apple skins, cotton candy, and an earthy hay base meld to form an experience that is well planned. The texture hangs in the back of the throat where the hops emerge strongest. I would love to try the De Molen version if it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Shared by Thorpe429. Thanks Mike.
The beer is orange with a small white head. The aroma brings hops and citrus followed by a sturdy malt backbone. Good flavor, though a bit sweet and syrupy. Oranges soaked in alcohol. Hoppy finish with lingering bitter citrus. Not really a saison, in my opinion, but tasty nonetheless. Good stuff.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

Lite maltig ton. God men kanske inte på topp.

0.5 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
Hmmmm. Was skeptical about this one as I wouldn’t associate either of these breweries with the saison style but that was part of the allure as well as the hieroymus bosch meets robert crumb like label. Anyway lets start talking about the actual beer... pours a medium copper color with three fingers of sticky khaki foam. The nose is more of a barleywine... cornpop cereal, butterscotch, taffy and copper pennies. Hmmm. WTF, this has to be full of diacetyl infection after looking at other reviews there is no way I could pick anything close to traditional saison flavors... and it seems some people actually did get a saison in this bottle... butterscotch, copper pennies. Drainpour !
