Styles (1654), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA May 23, 2008 Tap: 5-30-06. Dark copper, huge frothy head, great lacing, entire glass is coated. Great aroma, huge orange, mango, grapefruit zest, plenty of backbone. Flavor again, very zesty up front, orange, mango, grapefruit. Huge caramel through the middle, floral character cleans the palate in the finish. Great balance for a big brew. Well done. RSRIZZO (1332), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Oct 20, 2007 Had this beer on 10/7/1999. Aroma is very hoppy. Color is a nice brown with good carbonation and head. Taste is a mild malt flavor on a medium body with great hop flyover, then finishes with a nice bitterness and more hop flavor. Its like drinking hop juice. I really like it, its a very tasty Pale Ale. hopslovin (180), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Oct 11, 2007 Draft from 3F brewpub. Clear copper pour with white creamy head. Floral and hop notes in the smell. Crisp flavor with more hops, caramel, and spice. Slight bitterness in the finish. Not Alpha King, but very good. iowaherkeye (1832), Bakersfield, California, USA Oct 9, 2007 Notes from the GTMW ’06. Clear orange with a moderate eggshell head. Aroma of sweaty pineapple and grapefruit hops, and some sweet caramel malts. Flavor was grassy, otherwise the same as the aroma--fruity and grassy are underlined. Light body, moderate smooth carbonation. Pretty good. timmy300 (199), bloomington, Illinois, USA Oct 8, 2007 kind of spicy and similar to alpha king. served in an imperial pint at the fff pub.........nice drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 26, 2007 on tap at FFF. i recall it being listed as either 6.7% or 6.9% abv. this baby poured a hazed copper-golden with white head. nose is very PNW hoppy but spiced as well w/ cloves and maybe cardamom, mixing well with grapefruit hop aroma. the taste is nice and bitter with strong spiciness w/ cloves and cardamom. the flavor is really interesting how the spices play with the PNW hop fruity notes making this a unique take on an ipa. they do pull it off, quite well, but i’m not a huge fan of these spices so i drink think wishes it wasn’t spiced. but the hop flavor is awesome, real bitter and fruity. the body is light and palate is long w/ mild bitterness and grapefruit notes lasting long on the palate. as i get closer to finishing this i want more, maybe the bitterness and alcohol dulls my sensitivity for the spices. every hophead should try this. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Sep 20, 2007 On tap at FFF. Rich golden brown with a rocky off white head. Really nice lacing. Big floral hops. Juicy! A round malt base. Balanced, but barely. A little citrus. Alpha King on steroids. Not watery, but not thick. A little fizzy, but not undrinkably so. Big assertive herbal hops. A bit minty? Sweet not huge round malt with amble balancing bitterness. Crisp peppery floral citrus finish. This, I could drink regularly. cmr1517 (35), New Haven, Indiana, USA Sep 14, 2007 on tap FFF. I wish that FFF would botte this one!! Smells of pines and hops. I tasted a somewhat stroger pale ale but thats just me. Greate biiterness. I cannot wait to try again
