Clear dark amber body with a head light cream colored head and nice lacing. Strong hop aroma(both pine and citrus hoppiness), with a faint maltiness in the background. Initially a citrus hop taste accompanied by a minimal malt counterbalance. Has a strong yet still pleasing bitter finish that becomes slightly sweet as the beer warms. Quite easily the best APA I have ever had.

FlacoAlto (3810) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - FEB 4, 2004
UPDATED: FEB 6, 2004 Pours an amber color, quite clear except for a few large floaties. Forms a thin beige head that does not stick around too long. An immediate aroma of American hops wafts from my glass. Notes of lychee, grapefruit & other citrus fruits are in the nose, it smells slightly sweet & nectar like, there is a hint of caramel malt here as well. Ooh, quite bitter; this beer finishes with a drying intense bitterness. Overall this beer is only slightly sweet, it has a light body & is focused entirely on the hop component. The hops are over the top, but perhaps it is missing some hop flavor. There is lots of bitterness, but it feels like it is missing some balancing hop nectar flavor. Underlying the hop attack there seems to be some nuttiness, as well as some caramel notes. This beer is all about the hop attack, not much malt here, so if you don't like hops stay away. Luckily I do like hops so this beer is just fine. Perhaps a bit too unbalanced for an everyday drinking beer, but every once in a while is nice.

JCapriotti (1379) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 1, 2004
Large creamy head atop a clear amber body. Great hop aroma. Grapefruit-like, but this does not meet your average "grapefruit" description. It is very fresh. Starts a little light. Middle is a sweet hoppiness and a bit of strawberry sweetened grapefruit. Finish is more bitter and dry but still good. Nothing unpleasant in this at all. I was truly impressed by this beer. I commented to DavidP that if I had drank every beer I had available to me, I would be happy drinking this everyday after that.

12 oz [bottled in Munster]: darkly bronzed body. Pours with a generous, sticky, icing like head. Gooey lacing around the edges. Aromatic grapefruits, oranges, and dry piney hops make a solid aroma. Tightly carbonated palate delivers the citrus and bitter hops flavours throughout the mouth. . . though these flavours are great, a bit a of malt balance here could only make a great beer better. As you can only expect from the brothers floyd a wonderful tasty treat.

Brown, almost red with a white head. Nice hoppy smell. this beer is loaded with hop flavor without being overbearing. Great!

Spiesy (2338) - Sydney, Greater London, AUSTRALIA - JAN 7, 2004
Draught, at the The Blind Tiger, NY.</br> When Spiesy & AustinPowers drank. Amber with a lacy head. Has a very feral hop aroma. Strong bitter flavour and good long after taste. I didn’t write enough about this famous beer. It’s hard to stop to write something when your talking your head off and downing the beer at pace. Anyway all the beers were enjoyable.

intensely hoppy, especially the aroma. Not really pale - more of a red / brown colour, plenty of malts there too. fruity citrus aftetaste. dangerously drinkable.

Nice amber color, creamy white head that clings well. Nice strong cascade hop aroma? Good hop bitterness and hop flavors. Has a chinook and cascade bitterness and flavor. Medium body with some crystal malt flavor, but not much. A very well done American Pale Ale, which I will have again.
