| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 6, 2008 Orangey-amber pour with frothy orange-tan head. Aroma of sweet caramel, floral and citrus hops- delicious. Flavor is ridiculously balanced, with big citrus and floral notes melding perfectly with earthy grassy hops and candy-sweet caramel. Palate is smooth and full with the slightest fizziness. Not a ton of bitterness, but the well-rounded nature of this beer more than makes up for it. DSG (1515), Tel Aviv, Israel

Aroma of citrus hops with flowers and some malt in the background. Sweetish flavor, slightly caramelly with light biscuit hints. Continues hoppy and bitter with some grapefruit. Rounded mouthfeel. Good stuff. 502Flavors (631), Louisville, Kentucky, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Hadn’t had this beer in awhile, and boy did I miss it!! Had a bottle recently, compliments of Mark. Poured a beautiful orangish amber. Big hop aromas from the start, then it mellowed as it got a chance to breath. Big time citrus hops is the first thing to come to mind. It’s like you’ve been thrown into a pit of hops and grapefruit. The finish lasts, but you wish it would last longer. Never a bad beer from three floyds. Dmalone102 (223), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Updated: Jul 8, 2009My mom Brought this to me from Indiana at my request. I did think it was good, with a complex hop-flavor profile and a fantastic hop aroma. Grapefruit and pine were the dominant aromas. I didn’t think there was a great balance, the malt was not very perceptible. In my oppinion, a pale ale should have a little more balance. It had a nice light amber color to it also.
Rerate- 7/7/09- I just tried Alpha king again. Maybe I caught it at the right time, but it tasted so much fresher and more balanced. puggy211 (600), cordova, Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Poured an amber brown with two fingers of head that did not have very good retention. The aroma is of citrus and hops. The taste begins with sweet malts and then transitions into a bitter grapefruit hop flavor. This is a very well balanced beer. nefarious (203), Clarkston, Michigan, USA
