UPDATED: JUL 8, 2011 2011-02-01, bottle at Ørsted, Copenhagen, 7-5-7-4-14=37
Beautiful dark amber color; small head. It’s a solid IPA, almost double, with a lot of Crystal malt and toffee flavor; bitter, resiny, coreect balance, unfortunately both the aroma and flavor don’t show a fresh hopping (the bar received the bottles just a few days ago).

Hazy red-amber color. Light aroma of Manuka honey, sweetish, malt. Good perfumy toffee flavor; strong hopping, good resins and hop oils. Good and straight, but missing some dynamicity.
2007-09-29, draught at Hop Leaf, Chicago, 7-4-8-5-16=40
Beautiful amber color; thin creamy head. Quite good body strength, very good malt and toffee flavor, sweet. The aroma is citrusy and resiny. Excellent aromatic hopping and with the necessary sweet body. Excellent.

My most highly sought after beer for a number of years. Thanks to Cgarvieuk for bringing this one down from Scotland. Cheers Craig. Hazy reddish russet colour, thin beige head. Toffee and hop aroma. Yes big intense resiny grapefruit hop in the mouth. Wow that’s pretty big and awesome. Is it as good as I was hoping? It’s different. It’s big hoppy and toffeeish so very much in the American mould of an IPA I would say rather than an APA. Certainly tastes fresh on the hops. Yes very drinkable at same time. No real heat. Toffee is really quite pleasant. Good beer, but when you set your impression so high, it’s hard to live up to it. Thanks Craig. Now which beer becomes my most wanted now?

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, 12oz. It pours a creamy, fingerthic, beige head over a well-carbonated, slightly hazy orange-golden body. Citrusy, resiny nose with a touch of tropical fruits. Lovely sugary, caramel-like maltyness to give it balance. Full-bodied, creamy mouthfeel with a delicious bitterness. There’s sugary, caramel-like, almost beef-stock like malty flavors to cope with the citrusy, resiny flavors from the hops. Lasting finish with good bitterness. A lovely beer, and maybe it deserves a higher rating from me, but I find it a bit on the sweet side for a pale ale. (090718)

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Geht in Ordnnung. 7/9/8/9/10/8

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
A: A 12 oz bottle poured into my Firestone Walker pint glass. The beer is a hazy, amber color with little to no head.
S: A great citrus (grapefruit and orange) aroma fills the nose and a mild pine is present as well. There is also a bit of sweet, caramel malt smell coming through.
T: Exceptional flavor for a pale ale! Wonderful bitterness up front and on the finish. There is also quite a bit of citrus in there, but not much in the way of the malt.
M: A fairly light beer on the tongue, but certainly not a bad thing. Good carbonation and a bit of a lingering bitterness.
D: Pale ales are known for their high level of drinkability, and this one is no exception. A very nice beer by Three Floyds.
