Full-bodied (especially for an APA) and hopped...definitely with a purpose. Fruity and dry but not overly so.

Very strong aroma of hops and flavor of hops. Although, I detect a faint similarity between this aroma and that of old martini olives. There is a serious bitterness to this beer. An excellent American Pale Ale

sweet flowery bubblegum aroma. nice head. well carbonated. not bad at all, though possibily a bit too sweet. cascade hops are what i picked up on the most. iíll have to try it again in a proper setting.

Aroma is much more subtle then I expected, but plesant... Hops, dried fruit, a lot of peach I catch too. Body is an amber/brown, with a very thin head. Taste is unlike any beer Iíve had, itís real hoppy, but it lets the sweetness chyme in from time to time. With this beer you get your sweet tea, then hops, and a little bit of dark fruit.

This is a good beer, but if itís really in the top 1 percentile of beers, theyíve changed something since I used to buy this stuff as my regular "drinking beer" a mile from the brewery when I lived in Whiting, Indiana four years ago. At that time, they were a tiny outfit brewing their beers in a non-descript warehouse in Hammond, IN (they didnít even have a sign on the building!). I think they have since moved to new digs. I used to buy it because it was brewed locally, was very hoppy (too hoppy for most), and wasnít terribly expensive, about 2 bucks more a case than my usual Sierra Nevada Pale ale. Good stuff, but back then, underneath the high hoppy initial taste was a somewhat disappointing wateriness and lack of depth. Like I said, they must have changed something to get these high ratings, and Iíd like to try it again today to see. A memorable beer.

More of an IPA than an APA I would have said, but whatís in a name? Big brassy copper colour. The usual US pine resin hoppy aroma. More of the same on the palate. Rather astringent mouthfeel. Pretty good. Bottled at the London Joet gathering, January 2005.

My goodness this is bitter-a different kind of bitter. Maybe itís been too long since my last strong apa/ipa. Piney, citrusy, strong malts, very dry. It made my little sisterís face squinch up in the cutest way.

Complex aroma. Floral, aromatic hops and a hint of red wine. Amber with a large thick head that fades but not quickly. Some malt in the flavor, but the dominant flavor is fruity hops. About as good as a pale ale can get.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2006 Bottle. Smells of pine, floral hops, and citrus. Taste mimics the aroma . Very intense hop flavor throughout. No question that what little the caramel malt does itís destroyed by the over the top amount of hops in this one. More hop taste in this APA then some IPAís Iíve head. With that said I wish for a little more malt/hop balance in an APA. My first from 3F.

Bottle. Deep golden amber color with offwhite head. Strong bitter/piney hop aroma with some slight floral and citrus hops. Flavor focuses on the bitter hops-- piney, astringent-- but with nice lingering notes of grapefruit citrus and medium malt sweetness, certainly enhanced as the beer loosens up. Really good stuff.
