harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Oct 20, 2008 Bottle at the Angry Fist of Santa tasting at Chris o’s. Thanks Harry. Black, dark ruby edges. Thin tan head. Lovely choc, good hop. Slipped down really well. Smooth and utterly drinkable. FlssmrBrewAlum (1079), Lisle, Illinois, USA Oct 20, 2008 22 oz. bottle picked up from Party Liquors (Steger, IL). Pours an opaque black pour with a large billowy cocoa colored head. Aromas a little lighter than expected, chocolate sweetness and a touch of coffee mainly. Taste starts initially with these same flavors, balanced with a very assertive hoppy bitterness in the end and finish. Sweet chocolate malt and coffee with a very good hoppy feel is different but extremely enjoyable, and it works. I love the Porter concept and was happy to see the FFF version. Cheers! danielcurtis81 (879), San Diego, California, USA Oct 15, 2008 Getting notebook online. Bottle. Pours rich and dark. Very sweet on the nose. Lots of good milk chocolate flavors. Good malt characters. Very nicely balanced. Creamy mouthfeel. Wonderful beer! ratman197 (3138), Arvada, Colorado, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bomber poured aclear dark brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of milk chocolate, vanilla, light spice and a hint of coffee. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of cocoa, vanilla, carmel and light coffee with a smooth moderatly bitter malty finish. Magicdave6 (5400), London, Greater London, England Oct 7, 2008 Bottle at chris o’s pre beerexposed tasting. Alround rating: Roasty bitter porter, citrus, lemon. Not really my style, but drinkable enough. BMan1113VR (2756), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Oct 3, 2008 Updated: May 12, 2009Bottle thanks to zathrus13. Pours with a large, light brown, creamy tight head with a black or extremely cloudy dark brown body, with awesome lacing and good retention. Aroma has nice alcohol, creamy chocolate, light coffee grounds and some ripe fruits. Taste is chocolaty and toasty with roasty coffee notes, slightly flowery and fruity aswell (similar to Duck-Rabbit Baltic Porter). Mouthfeel is lightly creamy with somewhat lively carbonation. Some light coconut flavor appears when it warms, well hopped. Very smooth taste, which is better than the harsh coffee grounds of a normal porter, but not quite as decadent as the other Imperial porters I have had (Black Butte XX and Decadence 2007). thewolf (5635), Kolding, Denmark Oct 2, 2008 Bottle @ Chris o’s Pre-Beer Exposed Tasting, September 2008.
Pours completely black with a small, creamy, film head. Aroma is softly sweet, good maltiness, good hoppiness and lots of coffee. Nice, dry mouthfeel. Flavour is great. Lots of dryness, chocolate, good hops. Coffee and cocoa in the finish. Very nice beer. Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 24, 2008 Bomber courtesy of StFun. Pours an oily dark black with mahogany hues and a billowy 3 finger tan head and slippery lacing. Nose is roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate and some dark fruit hidden as well. Taste is ashy toasted malt, black coffee, powdered cocoa and some bittering hops in the finish, but the coffee lingers more than the hops. Smooth, creamy mouth feel. Very good porter – thanks Josh!
