hillfiiiiire (283), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Feb 23, 2008 Pours a nice dark body and tan head. Aroma is beautiful roasted chocolate malts and plenty of a hops presence that is definitely not overpowering. The flavor is slightly charred flavor, some coffee and chocolate. Pretty great. So smooth going down. I wish I had more of this to drink. kmeves (1080), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA Feb 20, 2008 Pours a beautiful opache black with a thick frothy tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, pine, sugar and grapefruit. The flavor pretty much mimics the aroma only with the malts making more of a statement. Finishes a long dry hoppy/coffee/chocolate. Medium to large bodied. kseecs16 (865), Naperville, Illinois, USA Feb 18, 2008 Bottle. Poured an opaque brown with thin light tan head that clings to the glass. Rich chocolately malt aroma with a faint hint of hops. Rich creamy dry roast flavor, slight char, and the hops again just a hint I did not find them to be too forward just a nice compliment. Rich, full bodied with a dry finish. Nice. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Feb 7, 2008 Black with a fizzy tan head, nice lacing. Nice chocolate malt nose with Fir tree hops. Medium bodied. Semi sweet chocolate and toasted malt flavors go down very easy. Finishes with a big Douglas Fir hop burp. Very tasty. 101705 stoutchap (297), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 6, 2008 Nice! Dark, dark brown pour. Roasted malts in the nose. Decent tan head. Thick mouthfeel. Some chocolate and coffee with some tanginess. Hoppy finish. Great! AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Feb 5, 2008 Updated: Apr 12, 2009Bomber, courtesy of mreusch. (Thanks Puff n’stuff!) Pours deep brown like rootbeer with a tight bubbled head that dissipates to a halo of a head. Nose is rich and complex, with the aroma of coffee, chocolate, and unidentified cola like influence. The flavor is quite smooth, with a smokiness in the front, followed by a sweet coffee and light smoke. The finish is palate cleansing dry, slight bitter hops. The mouthfeel is quite creamy and smooth. CharlesDarwin (1823), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Feb 2, 2008 22oz Bottle. Rich nose perfumed with citrus, light roast and charred hazlenuts. Very ebullient and sassy. Tawny creams and glowing resins. Beautiful. Pours in a deep black mahogany with a rim of circling tan. Flavor is rich and complex, bold movements of really refined chocolate, dark nuttiness, and sweet creaminess. Hops glow with a spice after tone and citrus percolates through. The body is right on with richness and warming alcohols that only add to the complexity. A very complex, deep, flavorful porter with an excellent body and nice hop complex. Very good! Thanks much Sean! tomthompson89 (1459), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 1, 2008 Amazing beer, Black with some tan head.
