mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 5, 2008 [836-20071115] 1pt6floz (w/ DuctTape, jerc). Bitter roasted coffee malt aroma. Dark brown black body with a long-lasting creamy light brown head and some lacing. Roasted coffee malt continues in the flavour along with a background of chocolate and grainy hops. Full body is a bit rough. Nice, well-balanced and tarty.
Description overheard: "Bounce-bounce, squeak-squeak, clunk!" VikingHammer (362), Lynnfield, Massachusetts, USA Jan 3, 2008 Black pour with a small brown head.Coffee, chocolate and raspberry aromas. Flavor is mostly coffee with hints chocolate and smoke.Medium bodied. Didn’t live up to all the hype. Goodgrief (1147), Middletown, Delaware, USA Jan 1, 2008 Dec 2005 - Just an okay porter for me. Pour was nice, with some head and lacing. Aroma and flavor was chocolate and piney hops...one of the hoppier porters I’ve had, but not bad. Just "meh" and considering the 22 oz bottle was more expensive than uranium, just not worth it. a10555 (123), West Chester, Ohio, USA Dec 31, 2007 I just love the way a good porter looks in a glass. This one was very good, coffee flavors and some maltyness. Nice clean finish. ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA Dec 30, 2007 Pretty impressive. Pours a dark chocolate color with a think syrup like body. Head is brown and yeast like. Smells of coffee and roasted malt. Tastes the same but with sugar and syrup. Really nice brew. msante79 (785), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA Dec 29, 2007 Bomber. Pours black with tan head. Smells of burnt malt adn chocolate. Taste is bittr, burn malts and chocolate. Mouthfeel is thin. This is an awesome robust porter. Not as good as last year but still a great brew. HopHeadinAZ (120), USA Dec 29, 2007 22oz bomber: Pours a clear dark brown with a small tan head. The aroma is chocolaty. The taste is slightly sweet with a bit of roast and hops. The palate is nicely balanced and smooth.Overall this is a good beer that grows on my as the bottle warms. Taverner (827), San Ramon, California, USA Dec 28, 2007 Aroma of sesame seeds at first...pours a dark thick black with a light tan head that quickly fades. Flavor is the roasted chocolate malt, with a nice balance with the hops. Like all of Three Floyds stuff, this is a great beer. Well worth finding - I had to have this shipped from Chicago. Well worth the FedEx price!
