4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from RobertDale. Thanks Bob!! Aroma has notes of chocolate, roasted malts, caramel, piney and citrus hops. Black in the glass with an average off-white head that mostly diminished and left great lace. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter. Palate is full bodied and watery with an average carbonation. Overall a really nice brew that’s quite drinkable.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
On tap, black pour with a tan head. Aromas of roasted malts and coffee with subtle cocoa notes and lots of hops. Flavor is a bit of a mess, the roasted character of this beer doesn’t mingle very well with the hop bill. It’s like this beer can’t decide what it wants to be. Drinkable but I wouldn’t go back for seconds.

Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is chocolate, roasty/coffee, caramel and some pine. Taste has some pine and is roasty and well balanced with a grapefruity bitterness at the finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
650ml Bottle from our local grocery store. Appearance is dark brown color with lots of creamy beige head. Aroma is heavy with roasted malts, vanilla and spice. Taste is similar but a bit more complex with roasted grains, dark chocolate dominant but strong notes of pine hops, allspice, and sugar. Palate is full-bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a semi-dry finish. A unique contribution to the Christmas ale pantheon.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour is close to black with a small tan head. Aroma is huge on the chocolate with notes of roasted pine nuts, toffee, and coffee. Flavor is more bitter/hoppy than the nose with added characteristics of licorice, smoke, spice, and caramel. Well balanced.

Floral nose and very hoppy for a porter. This is how all xmad beers should be made. Excellent!
