Alpha Klaus is Alpha King’s cousin. A big American X-mas Porter brewed with English chocolate malt and Mexican sugar and of course tons of strange American hops! Cheers.

í12 bottle. Very dark pour. Roasty aroma, nice hop charActer...hoppier than a regular porter but the year has died off some hops to make this smoother. Lightly roasty flavor as well, some coffee, hops are present. Overall good, hop forward porter.

Bottle from DrewFace... U da man. Pours blacksmith white head. Aroma is strong chocolate, with just mild hops. Bottle is 1 yr d, so thatís good. Taste is chocolate, light, smooth, not too hoppy. Interested to see what this would be fresh.

Bottle, thanks to DrFabulous. Pours nearly black with creamy mocha head. Aroma - whoa thatís a lot of pine/spruce. Was not expecting that. Also chocolate. Taste: piney, herbal hops dominate this. There is chocolate and roast, but this is close to a chocolatey black ipa. Lasting bitter finish, only slight sweetness. Palate: slick texture, medium body, average to lively carbonation. Overall: not at all what I expected. I guess this is a Christmas porter in the sense that it feels like drinking a Christmas tree thatís been dusted with chocolate. Would probably categorize this as a black ipa personally.

UPDATED: JAN 4, 2014 22oz bomber poured into a snifter. This was the second bomber Iíve had of this particular beer, the first one mustíve been a dud - I didnít smell any strong aromas - but this time, the smell of Xmas spices came through strong at first (cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and anise?), although it gave way to a damp, basement-like smells. There is some light roasted nut smells in the background too, but the smell finally settles on a light spruce and floral smells. A very thick, creamy brown head forms and sticks around for awhile leaving an even blanket of lacing on the way down the glass. This sits atop a dark, opaque coffee color body. It mostly chocolate malt sweet with some very mild coffee bitter notes to it. Itís light bodied, mostly flat (although there is some trace carbonation) with a creamy, but slick, feel to it. It finishes with a roasty coffee flavor coating the mouth. Accompanying the coffee aftertaste are notes of some chocolate malt, maybe some brown sugar to it and some citrus zest, as well as notes of the Xmas spices mentioned earlier in the aroma.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2014 23.12.2013, 0,65l bottle @ home:
Big slightly brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is dark malts, lots of hops, coffee, licorice, rubber, dark sugar, chocolate. Taste is slightly dry, dark malts, hops, leafs, cocoa, licorice, coffee, rubber, hay. Longlasting mild bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Nice and balanced beer, even though I donít feel anything Christmasy in this one.

Pours thick unclear dark coffee with a beige head. Aroma brings sprucey hops so fresh with some roasted malts. Flavor is really hoppy for a porter. Roasted creamy malts are under a prevalent hop profile.

Bomber bottle, to glass. Very dark color with little head. A strong dark, porter/coffee nose, can also smell some alcohol in there. A strong coffee bitterness that lingers on the tongue. I didn't really notice the usual 3F hoppiness. Medium carbonation. A little bit of an alcohol finish in the back of the throat. I am not usually a porter drinker, but this is good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
