COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Alpha Klaus is Alpha King’s cousin. A big American X-mas Porter brewed with English chocolate malt and Mexican sugar and of course tons of strange American hops! Cheers.

Dark brown; aroma of chocolate malt. Sweet. Soft malty palate. Thick, viscous body. One of the better examples of traditional-style porter.

(2003) Black body with medium beige head. Aroma is medium sweet, milk chocolate, some grapefruit/pine, light roasty. Taste is chocolate grapefruit, which, although sounding disgusting, works quite well. Roasty and light pine round out the flavors. Medium body. A very nice beer, and one for which I heartily thank BBB63. That being said, I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.

Bottle @ Chris_o’s Pre-Beer Exposed Tasting, September 2008.
Pours completely black with a small, creamy, film head. Aroma is softly sweet, good maltiness, good hoppiness and lots of coffee. Nice, dry mouthfeel. Flavour is great. Lots of dryness, chocolate, good hops. Coffee and cocoa in the finish. Very nice beer.

Thanks to Plovmand and Hallinghansen for sharing. Black with a tiny tan head. Roasted aroma of licorice and rich dark chocolate with hoppy citrus and pine notes. Dry and bitter flavour with lots of cocoa and mild roasted notes.

Appearance: black, thin fine brown head, lots of lace
Aroma: roasted grapefruit aroma
Body: creamy body
Flavor: lots of bitterness in the flavor, some of which is from the roasted malts
Overall: very similar to the Black Sun by mixing the roasted with the grapefruit, needs more chocolate to be a porter

richer chocolate and none of the bitter roasted malts, the hops are well balanced with the chocolate malts to make a nice hoppy porter,

Bomber from Secret Santa (Brad in Ohio). Thanks for this 100 pt beer! Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma has lots of chocolate and a strong hop character. Full bodied. Starts with a ton of resin and maybe grapefruit, quickly followed by a mass of very chocolate chocolate. Followed by some light resin/grapefruit. There’s a lot of every thing is this drink that for me finishes pretty dry and nicely bitter. Thanks again Santa!

A: The pour is a dark brown color with some definite red highlights. A short lived off-white head is present, too. S: Quite a lot of roast, and perhaps char, with just a touch of smokiness. There are some nice hints of dark fruits, earthy hops, and bitter dark chocolate. I seem to pick up just a touch of licorice. T: Mostly roasted malt flavor with a nice char character. A mild sweetness in the form of toffee, and the same earthy hop notes. A mild to moderate bitterness to the beer. M: Medium in body and medium carbonation, too. D: Kind of heavy on the roast which limits the amount of other qualities you can pick up, but good.

Bottle. Black hue with large frothy light brown head. Full body with creamy texture. Aroma and flavor of heavy roasted, molasses and vanilla. Long full duration with moderate sweet finish. May be the best of style.
